I have about 10 pairs, a couple with elastic like these. Perhaps it’s just my foot, but the elastic isn’t visible when the shoe is on. I’m hard on my shoes, and AGLs wear like a dream. One pair got soaked in a thunderstorm and they came out looking beautiful. Although the style you’re looking at is classic, IMO the snake detail might date the shoe in a couple of years. I’d be tempted to go for a patent or more classic contrast, but that’s just me. Well, "retro" is a more positive word. So if you like a touch of retro, they will be fine. I ordered it and was between sizes. The shoe was also a little long looking on my foot and therefore a little unflattering. The snakeskin cap toe adds interest and the style is totally on trend yet classic. Given the move toward sneakers, flats, and comfortable shoes I don't think the block heel style is going anywhere. I see them looking great with boyfriend jeans, tshirt, and a blazer or slim trousers and a pretty blouse. I see shoes as an investment piece and don't mind spending a lot of money on quality, classic shoes.
