Maybe it's because I don't work in an office type environment and wear more casual clothes, but my pumps and flats get way less wear than my winter boots and summer sandals. </p> <p>I have never gotten into the bold gladiator style, and I'm mystified by the entire open-toe boot phenomenon. I usually like my shoes to nod toward the trends without going overboard.</p> <p>That said, when I walked through Nordstom last week, I can't say I saw much in the shoe department that rocked my world. One cute pair of flats, that was about it. My feet sweat and then in sandals they just slosh around and get blisters. At least with a sock, I can absorb the sweat, and have a buffer in the shoe. The kind of sandals I really hate are "naked sandals" that make you look like you're not wearing any shoes: two thin nude straps, high stiletto heel. I would really love some simple, clean, pretty sandals with a low heel that are still cute and not matronly. The Nine West ones are so close but reviews say they run very narrow, and that heel might still be a little tall given the lack of padding in the footbed. Any sympathy is appreciated... </p>
