Hang in there! Winter blues are often set up by mid-February. I am sure you will feel recharged come spring!
One of the lessons I learned this winter: I need 2 extra pairs of winter-ready stylish boots: having just a single pair of black riding boots does put a damper on one's style if this is the only footwear option for weeks and weeks...

Totally hear you ... fed up with winter gear, vortexes, ice storms, frostquakes and whatever the heck else is coming in the next five weeks ... but I heard a bird sing the other day!! Hope is in the air! And better clothes around the corner!!

You will get your mojo back - it will come to you on a beam of sunshine At least our coats and boots are earning their keep. It's good that you have your formula dressing, yes it can get a bit boring but you look well put together and are keeping warm. The opportunity of shopping at great stores while you travel sounds very promising. You might be bringing some exciting refresher pieces with you... Something to look forward.

I understand, Viva. The cold is starting to get to me, too, and I'll be very glad when I don't have to pile on so many layers just to be warm enough. When I pulled on my snow boots for the 1000th time this morning, I thought that at least I'm extending the lives of all my other shoes by constantly wearing snow boots this winter!

Maybe a little winter wardrobe refresher is just what you need. Maybe you'll find something wonderful at Club Monaco which will help you enjoy fashion until spring arrives.

I, too, think you always look terrific when you post outfits.

Aww: I'm sorry Viva! I love seeing your outfits, but I understand needing a break. I'm sure you still look excellent, but I imagine being limited to a pair or 2 of snow boots must be frustrating.

First, you're always fashionable whether you feel it or not. We've seen many of your clothes, and you could virtually throw on anything and be fashionable. So, for now, just finish Winter on autopilot if you have to, and start focusing on Spring.

Hang in there! This winter, dressing has been such a challenge in itself. I have been wearing skinnies with boots almost every day since mid-December. Partly it's my casual lifestyle. (I'm sure if I worked in an office I could wear more dresses and change my footwear when I got to the office -- but for my daily activities, almost all of which are on foot, I need to dress warmly and comfortably for movement.) But I'd probably be somewhat in this position anyway.

I took Angie's advice and tried to refresh my knitwear mid-season. The weather even put a partial kibosh on that since I couldn't go pick up my fun new things until just last week! But. All that said, the worst is almost over. Only a few more weeks of true winter (maybe four weeks, for me?) And then slush, messy spring. ;)

I often get stressed out with travel packing -- it's tough to know what to bring for uncertain conditions. Maybe in addition to Elizabeth's challenge, you could consider investing some time and energy in planning for spring now. At least it is something to look forward to.

Thanks everyone! I really needed the boost. Whew, it's been a long winter this year. And I usually love dressing in winter, but this year I've just run out of ideas.
Elizabeth P: I am going to follow your lead and create a different capsule for each trip. That will help me activate some creative thinking and, I hope, start to shake me loose from the winter blues. Thank you!

I've felt this way many many times, at this time of year. But I have to say, this year I'm not... between my increased interest in my clothes, and this place, I feel I still have many more outfits to try before it's time to pack the warm stuff away. Part of this is because I've bought far too much, and want to feel justified! (she says sheepishly).

Can you make up a mini challenge for your self? Put together some fun travel capsules, so each trip is a bit different? (assuming you're heading home between them). Try x different ways to wear a particular item? I always think of Ingunn's week of her wrap dress when I think of this.

hang in there!

I think a lot of us feel like this right now. Even here in FL it's been cold, relatively, and I only brought a handful of items for that climate. So I'm pretty tired of my 'line up' as well, and also haven't been posting my outfits as much.
This goes back to my post about the need for fashion seasons. Renewal of spirit, breath of fresh air.

I hear you, say just hold on.
Also very work/ busy and winter-weather- event- tired here, but I'm using that to feel good about where I am. Interested in spring things ,but without extra time or energy right now. So also just resting, browsing a mag or blog here or there without pushing myself into shopping mistakes. Feeling more confident of how to use up and down cycles to best advantage and the most fun.

Oh, I'm sure you will. I've been stuck indoors at home a lot lately with work and then DS and me being full of colds and so I've been living in the same old jeans and sweater and indoor slippers. I just want to get out and about. I'm sure you will overcome this slump and inspiration will come. Hang in there.

Oh I can relate. Between the weather and a busy work schedule I have not shopped for clothing since December. Usually love winter clothes, but am tired of winter this year. I've been on line a lot looking, but can't seem to get motivated to go out and shop. Something tells me we will both be feeling more into fashion in about a month or so!

You absolutely will! I've gone through similar periods when I get crazy busy at work and also when I used to live back in Boston during the very long and harsh winters. Spring always "flipped a switch" in me and I found myself getting back into the groove after what felt like forever wearing puffy winter coats and snow boots!

I'm really feeling worn down by the winter weather and have so little motivation to do anything creative with my style. I'm heading into six weeks of work travel which is dangerous given my mood: lots of travel-friendly outfit needs, plus access to great shopping along the way. (I am planning one trip into Club Monaco in NYC.)

But the bigger problem is this: I am just so tired of being cold all the time and wearing only snow-friendly footwear! Sorry for the whining, but I'm sure I won't be posting a WIW for months, given how I feel. I'm just going for the simplest formulas to get through these long cold days.

Will I get my mojo back?
