For a long time I tried to force white tops/jackets/shirts because that's what one does in Summer. It's only this year that I've come to the realization that I can best approximate the feel of white by wearing silvery, blue toned grey and/or cream if I want a solid. Prints don't present the same challenge. Angie told me at a recent gathering that grey is my white, and so, since I both enjoy the color and the lightening effect it has (vs all the black I tend to wear), I've embraced it when I can find it. Case in point, my dove grey bucket bag and TopShop long vest. I agree that I'll have to buckle down and do some serious wardrobe testing.</p> <p>Shevia- Ha, ha! I embrace the 'far out' in you! I often feel I don't take many risks into farther out, so maybe this is what appeals to me about these pieces.</p> <p>Sharan- That is the $1M question, where to wear. Well, certainly to a YLF meetup! I would wear it to work, since most of my meetings are teleconferences. I wld love to see a dark top over the culottes and grey pants under that top as alternate options. I love the details on both items, and I like they way they work together and on you. For me, the culottes work at the current length, especially with heels. Perhaps the slit helps and maybe also the light color. <br />Now, where to wear this outfit is another question. Would you wear it to work? It seems a good outfit to go out in--out to dinner, to a party, to a gallery, etc. Or on vacation, sightseeing, etc. This summer I've found myself wanting and buying more light bottoms than ever before, and I chalk it up to the extraordinary, sunny summer we've been having here in Seattle. I have more light bottoms than I can reasonably wear in our short warm-weather season. (Of course there is no "season" for light clothing, as Angie has taught us, but I still gravitate toward darker colors in the darker months here.)<br />I got a pair of pants that are similar to these culottes, in the way they kind of wrap at the side with an opening on the leg. Mine are black and just about ankle length, so they are kind of a faux maxi-skirt. I can potentially wear them to work, and I took them on vacation (they are nice and light for summer), and even if I don't wear them a lot, they are fun to have. </p>
