Astrid, I only have one clutch but I want more. However, I would get a colour or something with some textural interest.

A clutch is almost counter-intuitive for you, but not quite. The way I see it, when you wanted to travel light, you'd use it. AND when you are travelling, it is brilliant. Slips inside a backpack or larger tote but comes out and looks a bit "dressier" and more current when you want to amp your style quotient.

That's a nice-looking clutch, sorry it sold out! But I think you will be able to find another, since there seems to be a good variety out still.

One note: I don't use cross body bags often, but I find that a clutch with a thin detachable strap can be really helpful for increasing the versatility of a clutch. My Vince Camuto black clutch is exactly the right size for me and has a strap that I leave tucked in the interior zipper pocket -- if I need to be hands-free, it only takes a second to pull out the strap and sling my bag across my shoulder! So you may want to keep an eye out for one with a detachable strap.

An idea on the water bottle aspect that has worked for me...you can purchase reusable flat bottles made of plastic film with a standard mouth/cap arrangement. They fold flat when not in use and can be filled at a tap or fountain on the go. I always travel with one or more for long trips, such as airline flights, and they'll go in the seat pocket, which standard water bottles will not. One of these would fit in a fold over clutch easily. I would imagine you could find these in Germany, at stores that carry hiking or mountaineering gear. http://www.neptunemountaineeri.....cse&u

Thanks for the replies Dashielle and Shiny! I might think about actively looking for one again, even if this one probably won't work out (I guess the chance of a restock are slim).

@Shiny, I think the size should be plenty for the wallet, mine isn't that big. I prefer to carry as few things around as possible - I switch cards when necessary and bought me wallet accordingly. The water bottle is an important point, I hadn't thought of that. When I'm on my feet for a longer time I definitely prefer to carry some water with me.

This seems like a good "gateway" clutch. Hee hee...

Generally I prefer clutches with wrist straps as I can go hands-free. I have several about this size but have more recently gravitated towards a somewhat more generous sized clutch, so I can carry more - wallet, cell phone, keys, etc.

I can't be sure but I suspect that clutch you've chosen may be just a tad too small for your wallet... ?

I use my clutches for evening /formal but more and more also use them for every day. I bring a clutch (or two) with me on every business trip. Because it fits in my laptop bag which is my second carry-on. At first this started out as "practical" -- wanting to travel light -- but more and more I'm preferring a clutch simply because it spares my back and shoulder.

But I skip the clutch when I am going out and about and need the extra room to be able to pop my umbrella, hat, scarf, and gloves into my bag.

Also I don't normally take a clutch with me to go shopping -- unless it has a wrist strap like this. But usually when I go shopping I like to have a handbag that I can stuff with water bottle.

Ooooh Astrid, your question is right up my alley, as I have started carrying clutches as of the beginning of the year and haven't looked back at my cross--bodies and other bags http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....nd-musings
I find that once I pared down, I could fit a zip pouch wallet, a zip pouch for lipstick/gloss and a mirror, my iPad mini, iPhone and work Blackberry easily in most of mine (chosen for their size). I have a drawer that it goes to with my other clutches when I come in the door, and in the morning I can switch out lip color based on need, and off I go. I have several that are for dressier occasions and those are smaller and will only take phone and lippy, maybe a wallet pouch. I find that I'm not having the same level of neck/shoulder pain either. If I need to carry more, I'll take a tote or my laptop bag. With regard to color, I found that most of my coats/outerwear are solids (black, camel, blue, purple, white) so my clutches needed to be either a color I don't wear much of or patterned to 'pop' and add interest. Most 'go-to' has been an inexpensive faux leather snake print (grey on one side), with my holographic fold over right behind it. I have ordered a white faux leather to lighten up darker outfits, and I can say that if you can find quality synthetics, the cleanliness issue will cease to be of concern. Several times I've been tempted to order a suede in a light color, or even a white or yellow smooth leather, and then I remember that I ride the bus and set it down occasionally other places as well, wear hand lotion a lot in the Winter, as well as foundation on my face, and so would almost immediately ruin the finish. I say go for it, dipping your toe in the cheaper versions is a safe way to try out the change.

Thanks Crutcher! I'll keep you up to date...

Thanks Merwoman - sizewise I would think you'd either clutch it or tuck it into your arm, although I guess the strap is nice to have just in case. I need my backpack for work (often need to carry books around in public transport), but I could see this on other occasions. Going out, meeting up with friends for a coffee, going to see a play or whatever. I don't carry a heavy bag, most of the time the biggest item is my umbrella. I don't haul a lot around with me either. So I'd need dry days for the clutch, but that's fine...

Thanks Marilyn! I wear color relatively often, so I think a neutral might be best if it's my one and only clutch. That way it really works with everything. I don't want to coordinate an outfit around my bag, I definitely don't have enough clothes for that.

Thanks Rachylou! I also think the size would work out well for me. It's not too tiny, but not too big for me 5'3'' either.

I like the size and the wrist strap. The wrist strap is key for me because I'm a forgetful person. Things just fall out from under my arm or hands, and I don't notice.

It's a nice little clutch. Not too big, not too small. I have a couple that have wrists straps and I like that feature. If I need both my hands free I can sort of hang it off my arm. I mainly use a clutch for going out.
If you wear a lot of neutrals you might want to consider a clutch in one of your favourite colours. It would add a nice pop of colour to your outfits.

Disclaimer - I am a clutch fanatic!

This is a lovely little model Astrid - does it fold over, or do you hang it from your wrist using the strap? Personally, I don't use a wrist strap, I either clutch my clutch, or hold it under my arm pit when I need hands free. I don't carry my clutch to work - but I do take it out for nearly every other outing. I'm a light traveller - cell phone and slim wallet, so that helps manage the stuff.

I found this clutch today, browsing for other things. I don't have a new bag on my list and I never owned a clutch before, so I'm not sure how much use it would get. But I love the look of it! There was a time when I searched for a clutch and didn't find anything I liked, but this one looks great. Decent price (because of a mark down), a simple style in one of my neutrals and made out of suede. The dimensions are 8.7''x12.2''.

What do you think, could this be my wildcard for spring? Or should I stick to the list?

And for those of you who use shoulder or crossbody bags, have you ever tried
clutches for everyday life? On what occasions? Or do you prefer your
other handbag styles?

ETA

I seems like it just sold out... Oh well. I will check in in case they have some returns and it becomes available again.
