#1 looks good.
I like #2 less because it enhances your short waist, something I don't like seeing on myself. Dark bottoms making you look wider don't make sense to me - but I do feel wider in skirts generally.

The first outfit is perfect - and perfectly elegant. I like the second one also - the red shoes are excellent.

I agree with everything KKards said. The 1st is elegant and I really like your shoe choices. I think the belt is maybe not a proper fit and does not reflect and flatter your beautiful shape the way it should. The belt looks like it is cutting you in half. I wonder if untucking the button up and then tying a different belt may help.

oh to see that sunset every night....breathtaking!

and now...i'm a huge fan of black and white, and love your version. if you wear it again, i'd love to see it with the shoes from #2...a little pop of red would make it a super wow.
i like the skirt in #2, and think it fits and flatters, but i'm wondering if it would look better without the belt. i think the belt is over emphaising the waist and trying off the proportions, making your body seem shorter.

L`Abeille I think the first outfit is very flattering. The second pic will not expand (right word?) on my computer. The way the pants are cut emphasizes how long your legs are and the shoes you are wearing work really well with the pants. The shoes also bookend your hair. The top is great with the pants.

Thanks to Mirjana for the inspiration! I can't do elegant like she does, but her post reminded me that I have these.. Perfect for a slightly cooler day. The top is some kind of crinkly stuff; the pants are comfy tie-waisted.

This is also my first black and white outfit this summer (I have been heavily into the navy) so this backpackish bag worked well.

These pants are short enough to demand flats, which I wore (mint suede loafers), but these are my house shoes in the pic.

I was also emboldened to wear white bottoms by DH's critique of the previous evening's outfit, worn to a concert. I've added the photo of the final version. Originally I had on a full navy skirt. He told me that dark on the bottom always makes me look wider! That surprised me hugely (I've always thought the opposite), but I didn't argue because it gave me an excuse to wear the white Uniqlo skirt. I'm still not convinced. What do you all think?

Bonus view of the bay from my walk this evening: sunset and moonglow.
