I’m not typically a quick adopter of trendy denim, because I have strong flattery preferences and tricky fit issues (short rise, long legs, wide hips, thick thighs). </p> <p>I bought these 7FAM “Jo” wide leg jeans in NY in September, and it took me a while to actually wear them. When I first put them on, I felt a bit conspicuous, but I wore them a couple of times at home and now feel better about them.</p> <p>I know this is a really basic boring styling — I’d like to step it up next time with a jacket and more refined footwear. I need to experiment a bit since this silhouette is a bit out of the norm of the past decade. But here they are in a super simple jeans-and-sweater ensemble from yesterday. I wore them in a similar outfit a couple days before. They’re pretty comfortable, but the high waist doesn’t stretch and does dig into my waist after a long day. </p> <p>I kind of wish there were a lower waisted option, but for now these do make my shortest sweaters more wearable. This sweater is Rebecca Minkoff from about 3 years ago. </p> <p>Pics 2 and 3 were trying on two different vests before I stepped out to get my flu shot and make a quick Target run. I ended up not wearing either but going for an old lightweight black jacket instead. </p> <p>I’m wondering what other footwear will look most current with these jeans. It seems that they require something with some visual presence. Nothing delicate. Pointed toe boots seem a little “early aughts” but are an option. I have cowboy boots too. Lug sole boots? I don’t like very rounded toes with these wide hems. What do you think? </p> <p>I welcome styling suggestions to get the most wear out of these jeans. My default answer is pairing them with more cropped/short tops and jackets, but perhaps longer jackets would work too. </p>
