You're in a warmer climate now, eh? I think the banded hems+flares actually work nicely when the top is shorter because you end up with ultra long legs, particularly useful if you have lower heels with said flares. Of course you'd have to be comfortable with the shorter top; I usually just wear a similar color camisole underneath.</p> <p>Dug up some examples of how I've worn my flares in the past year. Mostly with shorter tops, though I do like a tunic with flares too. Quite like the slouchy blazer and the silver sandals, hope those work out for you. You're certainly not limited to only tucking in tops with flares. A-line tunics, high-low hems, tops with banded hems or a wider welt, and semi-tucked slouchy tops all work really nicely with flares. I like a lot of the "menswear" looks that I'm seeing - trousers rather than jeans, lace-up oxfords, button-front shirts (I use quotes around menswear because I don't see guys wearing this stuff much at all anymore; they're all in jeans and t-shirts 90% of the time). Having moved to a warmer microclimate, I'm thinking about how to make my warm weather looks look complete without a third piece - it's easy to look more put together with a cardigan or blazer, but that's not always practical. </p> <p>Twice now in the past week I've ordered something online and gotten<br /> notification a day or two later that the item is unavailable. Sigh! I<br /> guess that means that I have good (or at least popular) taste. </p> <p>I ended up keeping the Ryan pocket tee in charcoal and v-neck tee in<br /> heather gray from the Everlane try-on. I think I'll wait and see how<br /> these hold up in washing/wearing before buying any more. I'm not wearing my knit tops as much as I did a year ago. I kept a white shirt and slouchy blazer from the Violeta fall/winter clearance, and wore the blazer yesterday, but it's partly wool and already too warm for the weather except at night, so it'll get put away until fall. I'm pleased to have two white shirts now; I found another basic one on sale at Lane Bryant the other day. </p> <p>At the end of last summer my sandals were all in pretty bad shape, and since our warm weather lasts a while, I've been looking for options for this year. In December I found a pair of black wedge sandals at Nordstrom Rack, and I've got the silver sandals from Boden on order, so hopefully I'll be good for dressier occasions. I also ordered a pair of white Birk-knockoffs from Target - dunno if they're still on the cutting edge but I wanted a pair last summer and never found them. Also have two pairs of casual sneakers on order from LL Bean, for the spring to summer transition. Excluding one pair, every single pair of shoes I've bought since last fall sometime has not been ballet flats, which is a pretty big shift for me since that used to be all I wore excluding sneakers and boots.</p> <p>I'd really like to find a pair of flares that work for me - I've got one pair in the 'too small right now' bin but they're at least 10 pounds away from working. I'm not sure what I'll wear them with yet, since 70s glam/boho isn't really my thing. They definitely seem to require tucked-in tops. </p> <p>Color-wise, there's still a lot of neutrals out there, but I think I look too dull with all neutrals all the time. I've definitely shifted away from black and towards gray, taupe, and other mid-tones. I agree with everyone who has mentioned that there's not much color out there for spring yet, and usually spring is a riot of color. We shall see. </p> <p> </p>
