Carol, Lisa, and Brooklyn, thank you for helping me think through it <3 I might size up and try it in oatmeal. I think the oatmeal would feel better to me, as would more room.

Brooklyn, it isn't the nicest acrylic, and could definitely pill. I too have noticed that acrylic pills horribly. Lovely idea to look for a top in the same shape! I'll give it a look.

Angie, thank you for all your lovely feedback!! I can't wait to see what you get for autumn :D

SW Ann, thank you so much!! I think I might try the 2nd dress in oatmeal and sized up. I don't deeply love the acrylic fabric but I do love the cut so much! I'll report back when I make a decision

Once again, your shopping skills are really good! I like it all--the first dress is just killer on you, and in spite of you not liking black on yourself, with the skin aspect of the sundress, you look great! The second dress might be better in a larger size. I would definitely try it in a bigger size and in the oatmeal and see what you think. The rest is just great and I think all provide opportunities for accessorizing, or mixing various pieces with other items you already own.

I agree with Lisa - trying a size up might give you a fit closer to the model. I think the black looks great, but the oatmeal could too! It depends what you would find more useful. The only thing that would give me pause is the fabric. Acrylic can pill like crazy. And if it doesn’t feel nice, that would probably be a deal breaker for me.

If you like the mock neck shape with the cap sleeves (which is what I liked), you could look instead for a top in that shape. They tend to be findable. Then pair it with a skirt. If both skirt and top are black you will get a similar vibe and both items will also we wearable with other items. Just a thought.

Ket - The oatmeal color mockneck dress is really pretty. And I think a size up may give you a fit closer to the model's, it looks like in the stock photo the sleeves are wider and lower on the arm, and the dress looks a little less body con and longer on the leg too. It looks lovely with the short booties the model is wearing. And super soft and cozy!

How fun to see your A/W haul ALREADY, Ket! I've stopped refreshing for Spring and Summer too. I like to shop early! Like you :)

I'm nodding along with Jaime, Suz and Slim Cat.

LOVE dress #1! excellent fit and KILLER cute! That's a soft black with lots of skin, which makes a difference. Make sure the buttons don't gape when you sit down.

Love #7 and #8! I see it with tall boots.

#9 and #10 look great as a long open cardigan - like you showed us in #11!

#13 is super cute, and #15 is KILLER.

Oatmeal or black, I think both colors look good with that dress. It is a little different from a boho style, but that makes it exciting. I think it is worth getting if you like it--just try more than one size, and with shapewear. I do love this kind of cut, which is almost art school and architectural.

Lisa, I'm wondering if sizing up on the dress would help fix all the issues you are seeing and I am worried about?? I'm actually surprised this doesn't fit better or have a bit more ease. I usually wear this brand very, very well. Then again, any garment can vary in sizing.

Janet, thank you!!

Suntiger, the snaps are a great idea! This dress is very fitted but it was impossible to find, and I'm pretty sure if I size up it's going to be too large on me.

cat2, everyone seems to not so wild about dress #2 haha! I almost got it in a taupe. (See post above.) Kind of wondering if the taupe and sizing up would be better.

Lisa, oh thank you!! Yes to all your comments. You have such an eagle eye! I haven't tried the sit-test yet. I was planning to wear it more as a tunic with leggings, for warmth and just more wearing/movement ease. I'm more worried about how fitted/bodycon it is when worn as a dress.

Carol, thank you! Pussy bow blouse, I actually can't tie it any tighter without it being uncomfortable. The ties are not very wide on this blouse. I think if they were it would give a much nicer "turtleneck" effect. I'm kind of leaning toward wearing it with the ties left undone at this point.

Column, thank you!! I agree about showcasing the waist. With few exceptions, the tis usually best for me.

For me, the color and style are fine, I think you wear a mockneck and this style of sleeve well. I am not a fan of the rouching at the side or how this fits (I know shapewear will help) but I am just not a fan of how this seems to accentuate the middle area, not streamline it. I personally find bodycon style dresses very hard to fit.

But what's most important is how YOU feel in it. If you like the fit, it's comfortable, and it brings a smile to your face, then go for it!

Cookie, thank you! I'll definitely wear the dress with my tall boots. I only had time for quick try-ons, but def hard to judge when the items are not fully styled.

Jaime, thank you! I am still a bit on the fence about the black dress. So far the majority here aren't loving it on me. and I admit, I'm not crazy about another black item in my closet like I thought I would be. Idk... I might return it, much as it pains me. I love the idea of it so much and yet... it feels a little off if I'm very honest.

Suz, thank you!! You have done some amazing shopping this year! WOW! You have warmed my heart exceedingly. I do feel this has been probably my best shopping year in a decade or more. Not sure why. It's just really panned out. Being active here again has definitely had a huge influence and helped me refine my style and purchasing skills so much.

Kate, thank you! I agree about the 2nd black dress. If I'm being very honest, I felt the most reservations about it during try-on. However, I love the idea of it so much it's hard for me to give up on it immediately.

Star, thank you! I'm really excited to try the butterscotch top with the cooler green cardigan. I think it could be a fun and interesting combo.

Brooklyn, I always love an outlier to challenge things! I'm still not sure on the black dress. I really truly don't mind the shape wear issue. I love the idea of it and yet... IDK. The fabric isn't great. The bottom hem was machine stitched and it makes the hem flare a bit; not very nice looking on a knit garment. And yet, I just love the collar and sleeves. So I'm feeling undecided... I almost wonder if I would have been happier with the taupe/oatmel color?? I really was torn between the oatmeal and black. What do you think?

Funny how everyone is not loving the 2nd black mock neck dress. Fit/shapewear issue aside, I am wondering if the black color plus style are a bit too sleek/severe on me?? It is the one dress I love and yet feel a little iffy about. I really love the style but I'm not 100% sold on it either. Wondering if I should have gotten the oatmeal taupe color... or just pass on it entirely even.

12 and 13--the first photo looks great, but have you considered tying the bow tighter in the second picture? Those shirts look great when the bow is about as high as a turtleneck.

You have an eye for picking dresses!

#1 - This sheath style looks very versatile for footwear (sandals to dress up or sneakers for casual vibe) and layering (blazers, cardigans and jackets will layer so well with a sheath.) A great find!

#2 - This sweater dress has a nice mockneck collar which is very flattering. I'll admit I prefer the fit and versatility of the previous black one to this one.

#3 - This cocoon sweater dress is so cozy and gives me winter snowangel vibes. Another lovely find.

#4 - The puff sleeve is a fun detail, but I am biased and adore a nice big dramatic sleeve. If it's too tight or short, layering with leggings or thick tights could work (if you want to wear this as more of a tunic style and not a cardigan to mix things up). If you want to keep this as a dress, I wanted to ask, did you do the sit test yet? I find for dresses that are above the knee in length, I am a bit picky, and I have to be comfortable with the length when sitting down (since dresses rise up farther on the leg when sitting).

#5 - I always prefer a pussy bow blouse left untied for a more dramatic look. Pretty color on you!

#6 - You wear these mockneck/higher necklines very well. Pretty colors, and a really nice fit on this, I like the cinch around the waist this blouse has. Another lovely find!

I will the outlier and say I much prefer the second dress to the first dress. To me it looks more modern and sleek. And the colour is fabulous. I also really love the slubby white dress. Could you wear it with the belt through the side slits and tied at the back?

All the other finds look good to me too.

Black linen dress looks fabulous on. The butterscotch top is a fab colour for you and I like it tied up as well as loose. The cooler green totally looks good on you too. I like it very much as a cardi, although could be interesting as a dress. Otherwise nice finds all round.

The first dress is a knockout. I like all your purchases. The only one I'm not sold on is the second dress, #1 because it needs shapewear—I know you don't mind it, but sometimes you just don't want to wear shapewear, y'know? and #2 it just lacks a certain something for me that I'm used to seeing in your purchases. Plus you have so many better options here.

Oh my gosh, those tops! They are fabulous on you! I also really like the convertible cardigan / dress. Those sleeves are dramatic and beautiful. And the colour is excellent and a nice change. I feel you will wear it a lot.

The dresses are also really nice. The linen one is so pretty -- black with a lot of skin works so much better than black without skin, to my eye -- I mean on those for whom black isn't the absolute best. Second dress is an interesting cut -- I can see its appeal, and if you don't mind wearing the Spanx, then go for it. The white one is so pretty and feminine and "cuddly." I love the textural richness of it.

You have done some amazing shopping this year!

The first dress is gorgeous on you. I share some of Jenni's reservations about a dress that you think requires shapewear, but you say you are good with it. Everything else looks great too - even the tie blouse tied up.

First dress, love!!! Definitely meets your Sophia Loren goals. Second dress, reserving judgment. White dress, also love! Somehow at once sophisticated and cuddly. Green sweater dress, great color, really suits you! I think it would be good as a dress with tall boots but looks peculiar with bare legs. Also good as a cardigan. Brown top, I agree on the more open neckline. Print top is 70s awesomeness!

Jenni, thank you! I actually don't mind shape wear, especially in the winter. It's a layer of warmth, some thigh chafe protection, and some tummy and thigh shaping. Thanks for your thoughts on the green sweater dress. It may well be cardi only this fall. It's rather snug as a dress. I tried the blouse with a looser tie but I didn't get a photo of it oops!

Well the first wiggle dress is amazing on you! Love that. The black is fine I feel with lots of skin showing.
I’m not as keen on the second one partly because you feel you need Spanx with it. I have almost nothing that needs shapewear, I hate shapewear for everyday life and even for dressing up really. I have one pair of Triumph shorts (shapewear) in the back of a drawer just in case seeing I already own them (bought over a decade ago). I would never choose to buy anything I thought “needed” it.
If you love the white I guess it’s a slam dunk!
The green dress needs to be a cardigan I feel.
Blouses are nice, could you tie the first blouse tie a bit looser than here?
I love Modern Outlander as a theme since I have loved watching the whole show and reading all the books.

Well, somehow dresses got me again. :)

This is a mix of one last summer buy and some autumn/winter finds. These were all quick try-ons, so not wearing my best bras, all styled, etc.

I'm considering what I call a mix of Modern Luxe, Glam 1970s, and "Modern Outlander" for my autumn/winter wardrobe. Sweater dresses fit into these vibes quite nicely, particularly Modern Luxe and Glam 70s. Both sweater dresses are short sleeved which doesn't scream "warm", I know. However, I plan to wear one of my several chiffon blouses under the dresses to add some warmth. Or perhaps I'll buy a couple of lightweight turtlenecks to wear underneath. At any rate, I love the high neckline paired with the short almost dolman shaped sleeve. It feels very fresh to me.

Photos 1-3: Linen wiggle dress, City Chic
My one last summer buy ( I think...) I really feel black isn't my absolute best compared to deep chocolate or warm charcoal. Still, I said "the heck to that" when I stumbled across this dress on Poshmark. It was new with tags for a fab price. One of the buttons popped off when I bent over to get something off the floor. It doesn't discourage me though. A quick little surgery and hopefully I'll be on my way. The fabric is a really nice weight linen blend, which surprised me.

Photos 4-6: Short Sleeve Sweater Dress, Eloquii
More black. Color options were very limited with this dress and black was the best of the bunch. This was a quick try-on so didn't have my Spanx on with it. It really does need Spanx for the tummy area (eek). This dress is almost body con. I nearly sized up on it, but I just don't know what will fit come fall. But I couldn't bear letting it get away either. Surprisingly, this isn't the nicest acrylic knit fabric I've ever felt. It's heavy and thick enough, but the finish of the fabric doesn't feel plush. And yet... I just love the shape and style of this dress, so I'm willing to overlook it. It's hard to see, but just the waistline is ruched at the sides which I think is brilliant.

Photos 7-8: Cocoon Sweater Dress, Eloquii
OH MY HEART! Loveth this so much! The sleeve/shoulder line is actually quite unusually cut, as it wraps around the shoulder to the front. Weirdly. there are slits at the waist side seams, the size of pockets yet... there are no pockets. The belt came threaded through the slits. However, the shape of the dress is really best with it being worn belted over the entire waist. Not sure what to think about the weird side slits. I'll probably whip stitch them closed, to avoid any odd mishaps. Fabric is a knit cotton blend and very soft, cozy, and plush.

Photos 9-11: Brioche Puff Sleeve Cardigan/Sweater Dress, Eloquii

Deep emerald. It runs a bit small, so not sure if I'll wear it more as a dress or open cardigan. Love the color. I am experimenting with cooler greens this autum/winter, as well as my usual olives and forest greens. I think it will be really pretty and easy to wear with tops and jeans for low key days.

Photos 12-13: Butterscotch pussy bow blouse, City Chic
Snagged this new for $15. Feels very Outlander/70s. Not sure if I loved the bow version neckline on me? I think it's better untied and open.

Photos 14-15: High neck peplum print blouse, City Chic
Another good buy for $15. This one screams 70s to me! I really love the peplum, the high neck, and the bodice cutout. Very fun print too. Little cooler colors than I usually wear, but I like the change-up.

Always happy to hear any feedback my fellow Fab friends have for me!

xo
