Ket, I have owned one pair ever. I thought I might have a pic in one of my early posts but can’t find it. I bought them maybe a decade ago but eventually donated them because they would always dig in to my waist and feel uncomfortable. Not horribly uncomfortable, still wearable, but after quite a few years I thought why am I doing this, my other pants just feel way better so goodbye to these ones!
Worth trying yours for several hours if you get a chance, to check.

Sharan, *blushing* thank you for such kind words! :) I agree about more fluid fits right now. I haven't had a chance to wear this pair for an afternoon to stretch them out. I do wonder if they will even stretch much more?? I have a feeling they were ran through the dryer a lot and are older in general; so not sure if they much to give in the give dept? But we shall see! I might need to try some City Chic trousers soon, so I have some fluid fits for the coming autumn/winter.

I agree with others that this style is really good for you, but I'd like to see a slightly more fluid fit, whether from a size up or if this pair stretches. I think the trouser styles offered now in jeans are cut to be more fluid and to drop down from the derrière, rather than cupping under it. That said, either cut will look super on you.

SW Ann, that's helpful to know. Thank you! I'm actually wondering if these will never loosen? The fabric doesn't give me that feeling even when I tried them on. That said, still need to wear them for a day. Things got hectic here with appointments and commuting, so I haven't had the chance to try them out. I am definitely on the look out for more wide leg shapes.

I was about to say the NYDJ do sometimes stretch out--but not always. I had a pair that was tight tight tight, and never loosened. I counted on them doing so, and finally had to thrift them. Wear them awhile, and stretch and bend and see what they do. I love the wide leg on you but the torso seems a bit tight to me. Good luck!!

What Angie and Donna said - I like them on you but want them to be just a touch looser and more skimming. But they might stretch out - might as well wear them for a day and see. Definitely worth sizing up otherwise, they make your legs look miles long!

NYDJ is notorious for stretching out, so wear them for a few hours while bending and playing pretzel. If they don’t stretch, pass them and keep searching for a similar pair as the style in general looks great on you.

Suz, that's exactly the type of fit I prefer in a wide leg!! It's definitely an A-line, with the hips more fitted. I'm really glad you shared that. And thank you for sharing your finds! I will see if I can find a similar pair soon. I want to get them back into my wardrobe. I love a slim leg, but the wide is such a refreshing change right now.

Thank you everyone!! This is all helpful and confirms what I thought.
I haven't worn them enough to know if they stretch out. Truthfully, I feel rather let down that they're so snug and not a great fit off the bat.

I might try them with different underwear, but honestly, they're probably too snug and I'll need to size-up or consider a different brand.

Angie, oh thank you for the feedback re: wider legs. I will see if I can find them in a larger size. I actually am loving wider legs on me, which I never thought I would say! Still love a slim leg, but wide legs are just floating my boat. :D

I agree with the consensus - great style, probably a little too small. Unless maybe they stretch out? I have sized up only to find they are too big after a few hours of wear.

I like the wide leg on you a lot but a more fluid fit would be more comfy and you'd enjoy it more. I remember your showing us the J. Crew pants. I think you want these to fit snug but not this snug at the top, and then flare out. My wide legs fit this way. You can see they do have a kind of A-line shape to the legs, as you reported. I think you and I like the same kinds of fits on our pants -- wide A-line, OR a slimmer tapered shape. It took me a while to find wide legs I really liked. When they first started being popular again around 2018/19, they ere a bit too straight and stove-pipey to be ideal for me. I wore them, but without the same comfort that the more recent A-line cut seems to give me.

So far between your smart feedback and my own observations, it seems like I really prefer (need??) a more fluid fit. My most favorite pair of pants from J. Crew years ago were a wide leg trouser. (probably bought them sometime in 2007 or 2008??) However, they were snug through the hips then the legs widened from the hips into almost a gentle a-line shape. (Might have just been how they fit me versus actual cut.) And... they had a somewhat fluid feel and look, despite being chinos.

Lisa, I don't normally like a slouchy fit. However, I do like some fluid flow to my pants, and these don't have it. And I just feel very "Kardashian" and on display in these. :p

Star, I agree! I was hoping these would be okay as is. But I probably need to consider passing them on or putting them back on hold.

I don't see anything wrong with them, they look like a classic jean with a form fitting style and I think this style of jean with the wider leg is fine with your leg line. BUT I prefer my jeans one size larger right now because I want a slouchy fit with scrunch at this point in my style journey.

How do you plan to style these? They do not seem to have the flow I've seen with your style with other new additions lately. (Big drapey printed trousers come to mind, while these are much more form fitting). I'd prefer if these were less form fitting.

I online thrifted these NYDJ recently. They’re an older style and pair though in good shape. I actually sized up despite the NYDJ site saying to size down. Good thing I did. They may have shrunk or just be cut smaller due to being older. (I would guess at least 5+ years older style.)

I looked at them and thought: I won’t even be able to button them :O

Well… they button to my great shock! However, I feel like they’re almost inappropriately snug.

I also don’t know if the straight leg trouser style is my best leg line?

The snugness is not a physical comfort thing for me. (They wouldn’t be comfy after a large dinner but that’s not a factor for me in most cases.) All I can see is gobs of panty lines and derrière creases.

I’m happy to save them a bit longer but not sure about the style on me either. I got them to try a slightly wider leg without going super wide.

What do you all think? Would love your feedback.
