I ended up feeling the same way about it as I feel about those packing cubes some travellers swear by-they add too much bulk to a life I try to keep streamlined. </p> <p>I now go without (lots of my bags have multiple compartments) or use a neutral toned clutch to hold a lippy, phone, wallet, keys and sunnies, then pop that into my larger work bag. That way I also have a smaller bag handy if needed. The downside is items are all thrown into the clutch so can be hard to find and I still end up carrying a separate makeup bag.
