LOVE the grey!

Really like the structured black blazer too. But only if you promise not to wear it with more black

Thanks ladies! They are hanging in the wardrobe with the tags still on so I might remove them today;). The grey was the one I was a little uncertain of, but I'm very happy with how the color looks and I'm looking forward to wearing it:)

Good job Deborah! I totally agree that footwear and jackets can completely transform an outfit. I think these are fabulous additions to your wardrobe and good for you on the in-out math.

I'm taking notes on how to add edge to modern classic outfits. I think you're right!

All 3 are very nice. I'm sure you'll get a lot of wear out of them.

Oh, what a great math here! 3in/4 out!!!! (I'm not that good at that kind of math unfortunately-I tend to keep my blazers, forever(if not worn out or extra dated).
Love all your new purchases!

Great jackets, Deborah. I love you in that blue-grey color and the flowy vibe suits your style so well. Knowing you, the black jackets will get a workout, too ; )

Thanks kk, I must admit the to black jacket #3 looks a lot better IRL than in the photo:)

Tracey I have a faux leather jacket, not moto style though. I often wear it instead of a suit jacket to work and I think it does up the ante of a work outfit:)

Deborah I think the unstructured jacket looks great in both colors, and I like the looks of #5, but I am confused by #4 - which jacket is that? And I also agree that shoes and jackets are great ways to add edge. Although you say you did not style the jackets, I really like the grey jacket with the slouchy black pants, which are terrific!

I think you are right that shoes and jacket can give you that edge. Ever considered adding a leather(or faux) moto jacket for even more edge?

i like the grey a lot, it gives a structured yet casual vibe. for some reason, i'm don't like it as much in the black. not sure why. i do like number 5, it looks like it would work with almost anything, and could be dress up or down

HI Ladies,

I have been on a bit of a jacket fest lately, but I tend to do this. My last obsession was silky blouses.

I understand that my style is probably predominantly ‘modern classic’ but my goal would be to achieve “ Modern Classic with Edge”. I have developed the belief that two ways to edge up an outfit is to add fashion forward footwear, and the other is to add the unexpected in a jacket. Feel free to correct me, but in my case at least I think this works, keeping in mind that my definition of ‘edge’ is the pairing of unexpected items to create interest and less conventional combinations.

So this was my thinking when I purchased these jackets.

#1 & #2 Steel Grey Unstructured Jacket

This has zippers at the front pockets and also on the cuffs. Grey doesn’t always work on me but I think (hope) this does, It seems to be a good tone for me? This addition is an attempt to move away from so much black and add something (slightly) different to my closet.

#3 Black Unstructured Jacket (Needs a steam)

This is the same as the grey. This will replace my cotton, unlined, unstructured waterfall jacket that you have seen quite a lot of. It is only 2 years old but I have worn it to death and it is no longer looking as fresh. It will also replace an older structured summer blazer.

#4 & #5 Collarless, Structured Asymtrical Blazer in Black

This will replace two outgoing jackets. A cropped velvet jacket and a slightly dated tailored blazer. I like the fact that this is cropped, but longer at the front than the back. It is still structured and tailored and will be ideal for work but I feel it has more interest than a traditional blazer.

So, three in and four out!!

These photos are not styled. I have just attempted to create a suitable canvas on which you can see the definition of the jackets, particularly as black is so hard to photograph.

I would really appreciate your thoughts. I am planning on keeping all three unless you really think otherwise.

Thank you so much for looking.

xxx Deborah
