I somehow missed this when you first posted, but I had to chime in and say, how fab the navy top is and that it seems a wise decision to return the chambray. I'm sure you'll come across an alternative.

I really like the navy, and agree the chambray wasn't as special for you. I suspect you'll find something similar, but better, if you keep hunting. I like how the navy can be worn in or semi-tucked.

I love the navy top with the sequin stripe- clicked on it immediately and may pull the trigger on it myself.
I like the Chambray top both ways with the BF shorts, the last pair of shorts may be too poofy, but it would be comfortable on a hot summer day at the beach

Janet, thanks, I really like #2 as well. It does have a little give with those vents at the bottom but it is somewhat of a straight cut - I got my usual smaller size (I veer between M and L at jcrew - I like some tees to fit loose, but this one I was afraid of the armholes being too big so I chose the smaller M size and it's plenty roomy).

I still like #1 because it has such a light feeling and I need more sleeveless options - but I'll wait to see on the smaller size first.

I really like #2 on you -- #1 isn't bad but doesn't wow me. I eyed that top in #2 myself but didn't pull the trigger. I like V-necks on myself so I was tempted. Maybe I should try it. I get discouraged by JCrew because the cuts are so straight and I am so NOT straight. But the vented hem might mean this would work for me without getting caught up on my hips. Hmm.

I like both. I like the color of the navy and the placement of the stripes is flattering. I like the looseness of the chambray and see it as a great shirt for a warm casual day. I have had no care issues with tencel. I wash on cold delicate and hang dry.

I have a strong preference for the navy top. I like the richness of the color, the fit and the stripe. There is something special about a detail like that, that is intermittently visible, that I think is extra special. (I love coats with fancy satin linings, cuffs & collars lined with contrasting fabric, etc)

Depending on where you live, though, you might appreciate a looser, lightweight top in the hot, sticky summer days (hopefully) ahead.

cjh - this is already sized down, it is designed to be pretty loose - I don't think I'd want it to feel tighter in the shoulders however as then it wouldn't feel as breezy. Hmm. Will have to see if anyone else chimes in. No bra shows on the sides and that's usually my personal rule of thumb. Good to hear that the tencel is easy care.

carter - thank you!

They both look great on you! I'm a huge fan of tencel (wearing a long sleeve tencel tunic now from Foxcroft). I agree with cjh on washing instructions. I don't iron, and the tencel comes out just fine.

Great summer tops. I like the navy knit one as it seems to fit better on you. Does the chambray feel too big? From my view, you may wish to try the size down as it looks fairly loose under the arms and maybe that's a sign of being too big around the bust.

Don't worry about the tencel fabric, just wash on delicate, shake the wrinkles out when you take from the washer, hang to dry and it will be fabulous to wear and care for.

I just received these 2 jcrew sleeveless tunics and thought I'd share because I do like them. I didn't style the first one much, just threw it on over some denim BF shorts. The second I did try with my white shorts (which are fitting like BFs now) and some floral chambray shorts, which are big and flowy but very light and comfortable for our hot summers.

They are both a loose, drapey kind of material but not overly thin - one is cotton with golden metallic side stripes, the other a tencel chambray that is very soft but has some structure to it. The arm holes give me just enough bra coverage to be satisfied and I think they will work well with my work at home mostly lifestyle. They feel really good on.

I really like how the side stripes of the navy tunic are elongating - worn with skinny jeans (tried last night but didn't take pic) it made me feel tall.

I'll have to see how they wash, I'm hoping for not too many wrinkles on the chambray popover. I don't have much experience with tencel fabrics.

1. Drapey chambray popover - jcrew
White BF shorts - AE
Floral chambray shorts - Gap

2. Metallic Side Stripe Top - jcrew (seems the navy is sold out)
BF shorts - KUT from the Kloth (a few years old)

Always love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: I decided after trying a size smaller of the chambray to return both. I just wasn't feeling the "wow" factor for something that was $60. I'm keeping the navy one.
