I love that dress on you. Fun color.

But I think it's too long to wear with flares. Since you didn't end up wearing it around the house and also don't wear the dress just by itself, I recommend calf length leggings. They will give you more comfort and coverage and make the dress more wearable.

Thanks for the feedback!

Kellygirl, I was wondering about the proportion and whether the dress was too long too. Is this where 2:1 would apply? If so, the blue portion was already longer than it should be, so shortening would exaggerate that, but I am not sure I have applied the 2:1 guideline right.

Jeweled, I think the cropped idea is a good one, although I think I'd like to have less contrast between the dress and a short topper, and I don't have many options there. I'll have to keep that in mind. The nice thing is that I am in an active closet building stage and can address wardrobe holes as I become aware of them. I think this color is good for me, so I'll have to think about it.

Deborah, thanks for the feedback. I think you are a drape and layering queen! I think if I wore something like this, I'd would prefer more cohesion, but it was fun to give it a try with what I have on hand.

I love this outfit. The layering is great and the proportions look good to me:)

I do like all 3 pieces - they're great outfit building blocks.

But I think 3 long garments may be too much long-ness. What if one of the garments was a cropped version, adding visual interest with the proportion contrast?

I think you've got the height to pull it off but I think it might work better if the sheath was a little shorter or if you wear it without the sweater. The sheath is a gorgeous color on you. Fun fedora!

In this case, WIAW is What I Almost Wore.

I rarely wear dresses. I have this thrifted J Crew thin cotton sheath that I bought a few years ago. I keep thinking I'll wear it on hot summer days, but then I don't. I decided to try it over my flares. I then added the hat, my old sweater, and Birks so I could bump around at home. If I went out, I would likely switch shoes to my heeled cognac sandals or cognac combat boots and then play with sweater on/off, hat on/off, and potentially add some amber necklaces (if I didn't wear glasses or the hat).

I liked this more than I expected, but the flares are tough for me to work with at home. I like to be barefoot as much as possible, so I changed.

Thoughts welcome!
