Big fan here too - the gay community was all in with him even before the Madonna cone-bra made him so we'll know . He is fab and I can see why you love him! And the the fact that your style may be different actually makes even more sense to me - I often admire what I don't or can't wear, for that very reason. Not wanting to be a member of any club that will have me, etc.

Yes, I'm with you! And I love that the models all look completely fabulous and eccentric rather than outlandish. He has respected their diversity rather than trying to fit an older or larger body into an outfit designer for someone young and thin.

Gorgeous stuff. I like him because, if you dare, his clothing is street-wearable. I know, a crazy thing to say! But I feel a lot of things are at home clothing for people who live in palaces; when they hit the street, I think *tinsel town.* I know where I'd go in a super-hero caftan, not so much an Easter egg Chanel suit (grocery store runway notwithstanding).

I linked to that show in October 2014, TG, and this is what I said (although Inge wrote the link love post of course):

"Angie lets us know that Jean Paul Gaultier’s very last ready-to-wear runway show did not disappoint and received a standing ovation by all. In true Gaultier fashion, he challenges runway conventions with a huge sense of humour and enormous creativity. Be sure to read all about his motivations behind the designs for this collection in the write-up. It’s a masterpiece."

http://youlookfab.com/2014/10/.....for-plaid/

A highly creative design genius and lateral thinker who made his name by redesigning Madonna's bra tops back in the late '80s. There is a LOT to appreciate about JPG whether you fancy his designs or not.

Quite right ... it's very unfortunate indeed ... one of my greatest joys in life is watching my six year old daughter eat ice cream, because she does so with no worries about if she's "too fat" or "toned" or whatever else we are all supposed to be ... I'm all for health, but I hate to think of the day she and her friends will stop enjoying things because of body image issues ... we haven't come even close to far enough on that one.

He's always been a bit of rebel. He first used a plus sized model in a runway show back in 2006. It caused major shock waves in the industry at the time.

ETA Unfortunately it hasn't expanded beyond that.

Jean Paul Gaultier

I saw the exhibit of him in San Francisco about two years ago. It was amazing. He is unique in fashion. Madonna's cone bra was designed by him.
He recently stopped making Ready to Wear and is now focusing on couture.
I'm very surprised you like him, since your style is pretty simple, and he not and never has been. In fact I cannot think of someone so diametrically to you.

Ok, I don't know the first thing about him or his clothes, but while looking at Angie's pinterest board, I noted his use of unorthodox models and a little more research shows he uses senior-aged beauties, kids (don't love, but bear with me), and transgendered models - all of whom challenge any fashion designer who should claim they have no choice but to use young, extremely tall, extremely skinny models as they are the only body type that can showcase high fashion properly.

So hooray for him!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/fem.....-Gaultier-
