Thanks for your replies. Sorry for the late post. I haven't been able to take a picture of my pants yet, but will do so as soon as I can. Thanks.

I have the same problem and I know the cause, but I will need to see a picture of yours. It could be many things, are there diagonal lines or vertical lines? It could be that you have sway back, low butt, flat seat, full or thin thighs. An expert tailor can figure it out and do the right alterations.

I have this problem a lot -- I attribute it to the fact that my build is very elliptical. I have wide hips and big upper thighs, but do not hold weight in my tummy and I have a flattish butt. Therefore, cuts that accommodate my hips and thighs often have a little too much room in both the waist and butt. It is possible to tailor for both issues, but I usually just have waists taken in and hope for the best when it comes to the rear view. Certain fabric contents seem to lead to bagging out more than others, but I have yet to find a magic fabrication -- some that seem promising at first behave differently after the first laundering, while others spring back to shape during wear with no problems.

Once, Angie mentioned that a smaller difference between front and back rise helps. I also never put jeans in a hot dryer. The elastic gets ruined.

Nothing to add except that I love your username, and I have this problem too. I should really start having waists taken in but it's a bother.

If there's too much stretch (spandex) in the fabric, they could sag. It could be that the waist needs a wee alteration. And I've found that cut & fiber content have more to do with sagging than whether they have elastic waist or button at the waist.

Pics would help us pinpoint the problem, if you're comfortable with that

Hi Elena, I am not exactly sure how to answer since everyone's bodies are different. It might be that the jeans are not the right shape for your body. Are you curvy? I am curvy and I find that my jeans like to slide down a bit as I move which leads to a saggy butt. My solution is to add a belt to keep the jeans at my waist. As far as elastic....I think that whenever you add gathering in the fabric you have the potential to add more fabric which can cause bags.

Hi, I'm new here, and would like to ask a question. It's about pants or jeans sagging in the rear. Mine usually seem to do that and I don't know what the problem is. I wondered if anyone could help me out with that? Also do pants or jeans with an elastic or drawstring waist seem to bag more than pants with a button and zipper? Thank you!
~Elena
