You just have to feel for those with a unisex name, my male friend Ashley now 40 was bewildered to find a magazine on the door step which related to feeling menopausal.

In the UK you need to be on the electoral role to vote, it's also a requirement for securing a mortgage or a loan but unfortunately aspects of the electoral role are in the public domain so a large amount of junk is acquired this way. It's very frustrating.

Worst. Shoes. Ever. They make everyone who wears them look short and dumpy... only 5 year olds can pull them off without looking ridiculous.

Agreed, Annagybe - I'd rather get the Uggs catalog than the AARP magazines that most mysteriously are being delivered with *my name* on them! :-O

I would rather get the Uggs catalog than the subscription to Working Mother magazine that I have seem to acquired. I pawn the magazines off to my co-workers who are working mothers.

Oh I'm laughing out loud of your description of the UGGS models! I can't recall ever receiving catalogs out of the blue like that. The only thing that comes close for me is that my name has somehow got onto the opposite political party (from the one that I belong to!) mailing list - and anyone who knows me just cracks up that I get mail from them! I'm sure that one of my friends put my name on the list as a joke - I also get a bunch of their e-mails! So annoying - and no matter what I do, I just can't get my name removed!

Oh, Eva. There are some very hopeful marketers out there

I hate that! And just try unsubscribing... most of them make you save customer numbers and lot numbers and stuff from the magazine label. Then they say the materials have been pre-printed and it may take up to six months to stop receiving them.
>:(

Just taking a guess here: It could be that some company you purchased online from either distributed your shipping address to an affiliate, or sold it to another company.

Joy - what I sometimes do is make up a name for a specific purpose, i.e. subscribe to a magazine, just to track how it multiplies. And it does! Eventually all kinds of catalogs and offers begin arriving in my mailbox. Huge, huge waste of paper and natural resources, imo.

Scarey isn't it. If you subscribe to a magazine or something, next time have your name listed on it as Mrs. John Doe rather than Jane Doe or some other such change. You will be amazed where mail comes from with that same moniker.
Many years ago I made up a name for a "child" at our address in order to get a coupon booklet at Kids-R-Us. This had to be almost 20 years ago. That "child" is still getting mail approved for credit cards, from colleges, etc.

In my mail yesterday was a large glossy UGGS catalog. It was filled with pictures of bikini clad women sporting their spring collection. I don't know why I received it. I don't own any UGGS, nor do peruse them on the internet. It seems like it is a big black hole - why do some catalogs end up on our doorsteps? Who it selling them our address? What other information, do they have on us? Size? Buying style? How much I spend on clothing/shoes? My dog's name? We seem to have little control over this. If you think more about that surprise catalog you get, it's kind of scary.

As far as the catalog goes, I'm the wrong market for UGGS, they wasted all the paper and printing on me. It will be in the recycle bin today.
