I would consult these people: https://www.thelaundress.com

I saw them successfully wash a silk-lined wool Chanel suit. With the chain.

What a pain. Reminds me of a bathing suit I looked at many years ago that said "dry clean only"......

I know that practicality is not always the #1 consideration retailers focus on but making something white that can't be cleaned is crazy. Hopefully after Nordstrom gives you your refund they will complain to the manufacturer.

Yes, apparently this dark/light colour combo-bleed issue is a real thing.

I have a mixed-fabric and leather Tracy Reese jacket that my (very high end, highly skilled) local dry cleaner refused to touch. I thought it was the leather, but when I consulted a friend in DC who runs another dry cleaning business, he told me the black-white combo is the problem and that cleaners don't want to try because they fear the result.

The idea that manufacturers are making clothes that can't be cleaned--and misleadingly sewing in labels that imply they can be--appalls me. My jacket is a couple of years old, so I wasn't planning on returning, but maybe I will ask Nordstrom to send it to the designer. In the meantime, I am highly wary of black and white mixed-fabric "dry clean only" items!

No, I havent, but how frustrating! How ridiculous is that--a white trench that cannot be cleaned??? Hope Nordstrom takes it back without any trouble.

I bought a cool sleeveless white trench that I was really excited to incorporate into outfits. But, on first wear, it got a little *ahem* green crayon on it. So, off to the dry cleaners it was taken...only to come back still with the green crayon, and a note saying that the black trim on the inside of the back seam bleeds (the tested it in an inconspicuous spot), so they refused to clean it, as it would basically ruin it to have the black bleed all over the white! WTH!

Luckily, I purchased it at Nordstrom, so I'll be returning it.

Anyone else experienced something like this? I guess it's something to note for future purchases.
