With a certain "favorite" retailer, I think their minimum is too high, and especially as noted, when you buy during the sale, it's hard to meet the minimum. Usually I will try to legitmately "try" something or have learned I need to try 2 sizes (fluid fits!). However, recently I paid shipping to get an even further discounted sweater that had disappeared and reappeared in the right size (girl math came out even) that turned out to be agreat essential item. So at times I try to look at it as just an overt cost of shopping whereas "free" shipping is hidden in there somewhere.</p> <p>With Nordstrom's I'm almost the opposite, a lot of times I only order one thing at a time, sometimes when it might make more sense to order things or sizes to compare. Often I am ordering a couple sizes anyway, or something to try that will likely not work, so it's not hard to get over the free shipping limit. Or at Twice, where they have free shipping and returns and everything is secondhand anyway, so I'll end up returning a good chunk of it. </p> <p>The 'worst offender' for me is Powell's Books - they offer free shipping for any order over 50 dollars, and the shipping for books adds up quickly.
