Thanks Bijou. Shoes for travel definitely must be comfortable above all else.

FC - I am glad to know you find the fit consistent on PG. I hope if I am patient I can find a deal on something that will work. I would love a low heeled moto boot from them. I will keep an eye out. I ordered several different brands of boots from NAS, in part to check out sizing and feel, so I will know more going forward.

I am a Paul Green fan; it seems that if they work for you, they really work! They are among my most comfortable and favorite shoes. The low heeled styles are definitely walk-all-day shoes for me. Nice arch support. I would say keep an eye out for a lower-heeled moto boot style by Paul Green on sale. I find the brand's sizing very consistent, so now that you know your size, you can order them from online sources when you find them on sale.

Delurked - returning was a good decision given the heel height issue. For me half an inch is enough difference between a boot that works and one that does not. Comfortable feet are so important when travelling.

Thanks SF And Chris. I think heel height is more and more important to me, where it used to not matter as much. I am going to make that a hard no going forward so I don't get distracted.

The boots were returned this morning.

Agree that heel height is super important even 1/2 inch can make a huge diff. Sounds like a great experience all around, you now have another brand that you know will work for you and you kept your picky shoe choosing skills in fine form!

I have lots of problems with my feet so I have to be picky about footwear. I have been thinking about buying a pair of Paul Green boots with lower heels. They do look great but they have to tick all the boxes. Heel height is very important.

Ryce - I would be keeping if they filled the position of travel and all day walking boot I need so badly. In the past, I had a pair that I actually duplicated, and on my last trip I threw the second pair out before returning. I have plenty of shoes to go about my day, but not the right ones for that niche. I may also consider a lower hiker or something too, but I like it to be dressier than that. I've also determined that my fashion sneakers don't work well enough for all day walking either (with the possible exception of the Ecco soft 7 I have, but that would probably only work for a shorter day), and the one black sneaker I used for travel has been discontinued. I'm currently on my second pair of those, but have been wearing them enough I don't think they'll be there when I need them to travel.

No surprise a new brand I like is pricy.

I was inclined to encourage you to keep them until I read this:
"That's probably my main concern - that they aren't *quite* comfortable enough to be a workhorse."
You are absolutely making the right call. AND you learned of a brand that you'd like to keep an eye out for in the future. So, all in all, a good experience!

Smittie - thanks. I know the right thing is to return. I have money only for one pair of boots, and I know these must not be them because I'm still looking for a bootie or moto boot. If I thought the PG would suit my needs, I wouldn't be scouring NAS so hard.

Thanks Sara, Fashiontern - I do like the looks of them.

Jill - I have been having more foot problems than in past with pain in my forefoot. The PG have a 2 inch heel. While not that high, I've been trying to stay under 1 1/2 or even closer to 1 1/4. I know it doesn't seem like a half inch should matter, but I'm concerned that any shoes going forward not exacerbate this problem that comes with the higher angle of the shoe. That's probably my main concern - that they aren't *quite* comfortable enough to be a workhorse. It's so very difficult to determine ahead of time how comfortable a shoe will be. It's much easier to figure out when they are immediately uncomfortable. I am trying to seek out high quality brands, and I can see the PG is very well made. That's where my hesitation at returning is coming from.

I have also bought Paul Green shoes/boots at the Rack that I didn't absolutely need. I found a pair of PG 'Cayanne's' and a pair of chelsea boots. Your PG boots, however, are significantly different from your Franco Sarto's. As Sara said, one is grey and one is black and you like the profile of the PG's a bit better which is a plus. Would you look forward to wearing them? Or would you always default to the Franco Sarto's because you truly like black better. The Paul Green's are great quality and will last longer than your other boots. I too paid about 70% less than the original price and looked at it as a way of upgrading my footwear. I'm very happy that I kept mine. Don't keep them just because of the price though. I had been looking at the Cayanne's forever but couldn't pay full price. The chelsea boots were a bit of an impulse buy that I'm very happy with.

I found some clearance Paul Green gray boots in a 10 1/2, which is like finding a needle in a haystack size in store. They fit, and I brought them home. They were 70% off, but I believe they would still be the most expensive shoe in my closet. I have a pair of Franco Sarto black boots already that have a slightly lower heel, but they aren't quite as fitted through the calf, so I think the PG has a nicer profile. This can be good though, because they fit leggings and jeggings fine. Also, I like black bottoms, so usually prefer black to gray shoes.

If I didn't already own the FS that would be one thing, but common sense tells me they're too similar to keep the PG.

I'm going to return, but now I know Pail Green may need to be a brand I stalk going forward. I'd never tried them on before.
