She is fab and talented. But Jonesy used the word I was going to use, which is precious. Nice to look at, but there is no real connection because nothing feels authentic...to me.

I've been following Glamourai for several years, hers was the 2nd fashion blog I started to really check often. I fully love her style. I may not relate 100% to her specific outfits, but her attention to detail and her fashion talent is unmistakable; and her photography is beautiful, and her jewelry is inspiring, and her draping, and her interior work... I can definitely appreciate her, her style, and her work on a very artistic level. And I find that I can actually learn and use a lot of what I see there. Even if it's not something obvious.

I love Man Repeller, but I feel it only works as humor because she, being young and adorable, has the option of not being man-repellent. If she really didn't look so cute (the photo of Sinead comes to mind), it wouldn't be quite as funny to me.

lyn* i heart cake wrecks.

i also love style bubble and man repeller for the same reasons jonesy has articulated.

no disrespect to kelly's work ethic or talent, but i don't enjoy her blog as much as i used to because it's no longer inspiring to me.

Well, notice I said "somewhat outside of" because I realize that we are talking about *fashion* bloggers who are taking pics of themselves in interesting clothes (i.e., they all have that in common with each other and in that sense are "fashiony"). I think the thing that I dislike the most is the whole sexy-face, come hither look, vs. a more naturalistic pose and facial expressions. Like Angie's WIWs, for example. In her pics she looks happy, engaged with the world, going about her business, etc., not like she is trying to be sexy or imitate what a model would pose like.

Re. what blogs I look at, when I'm not here at YLF :), I like street fashion blogs, because they can capture people in somewhat naturalistic ways. I also like blogs like The Style Sample (interesting, quirky), The Man Repeller (funny and self-effacing, interesting clothes), Style Bubble (amazing clothes, detailed shots of them, funny), and My Edit (landscaper by day, fashion lover and amazing thrifter online, sense of humor). I don't think any of them do sexy-face, except as a joke.

The Jezebel link is about sexy-face:

http://jezebel.com/5178429/eno.....ce-already

Sorry to hijack, Una!!

Angie, I agree with you - she has talent as well as style, works incredibly hard from what I can tell, and gives her readers so much eye candy for their buck.

Jonesy, I see your point! Like all the style blogs I read, I take away what I like and roll my eyes or ignore the rest.

I agree with most of what you are saying about Kelly, Angie, but...I think for me, I really appreciate fashion and style bloggers who have a strong sense of humor and some perspective. Otherwise, it becomes too self-important and precious, IMHO. Almost verging into caricature, a la Spinal Tap or Best in Show. I think I also like bloggers who seem to be operating somewhat outside of conventional fashion-y parameters, rather than seeming like they eagerly want to become fashion insiders, and they are hoping their blog will get them there. Just my two cents, of course!

I follow Kelly (the Glamourai) and think she is exceptional in many ways.

She stands out from the rest of the blogging world. She is *talented*. Yes, she has a natural knack for style and photographs beautifully. But it's more than that. She also makes her own jewelry, and completes the most impressive interior design projects. She works her bottom off. I so respect her work ethic and skill. As for the high heels - show me an outfit fashion blogger who isn't wearing them :)

And her photographs, in my opinion, are sublime. Her photographer does an absolutely killer job.

I'm waving back at Lyn and Polly! Greg and I have been thinking of hiring an intern for quite a while, but we don't quite know what that means yet.

Perhaps that could be the next 'different' YLF competition if Angie wants an intern?

I can see things getting ultra competitive! Tee hee!
