No one should worry about the color their legs are . My legs are super white and I dont want to use fake tan or fry my self in the sun . I like being white and I like wearing shorts. I think your legs are not so white they just match the rest of your color. If you are white dont be embarrassed to show you white legs . The more people with pale white legs show them off the more other people with white legs will do so as well. Here is a pic of my white legs to compare the difference .

You (and your legs) look great in that outfit! I think you look great as is, but if You feel uncomfortable than a bit self-tanner wouldn't hurt.

Kellee-I have a couple of tips to pass on if you do decide to go the self-tanner route. I use regular moisturizer on my skin first and then use the tanner. It makes the tanner go on much more evenly. Also, avoid the areas where you have thicker skin (knees, ankles, toes) and just lightly rub the last remaining bits of lotion there when you have finished the other areas. You may want to give it a go before you have a special occasion so you can see the results and alter the application if necessary. As for the issue about dark spots, I just avoid them when applying the lotion, since the tan is gradual each time you apply the lotion you will get it on just a bit differently and won't see a "hard" line where you have gone around the spots. The lotions where they have a color choice (light, medium, dark) is best for me because I always want the lightest color. In the end, I want just a hint of color so I feel better about my legs being "out there". I'd like to say I'm as evolved as the other woman who have embraced their fairness, however I haven't gotten there yet, perhaps in the future. I just feel better with a bit of color. Good luck!

Thank you all for your ideas.

I am going to try and embrace my pale legs ....
Except maybe for special occasions where I do not want my legs to proceed me into a room :)

It is wonderful to know I am not alone with the idea of what to do with them.

sarbear1121
That is the perfect word, transparent, for my white legs.
It is not just that they are white, it is the shade in relation to all the other marks, veins etc. A 65 yr. old friend of mine actually called them "spooky". She is a hoot, and pale as can be, too.

San, thank you for the kind thought that I would not be old enough for age spots.
I am and I do have them , especially on my arms.

I think the idea of just using the cream on my legs is a good one for me.
Maybe I will post a before and after, later in the season
so you can tell me if they really look tan or orange

I have that skirt and I also have white legs. Starting about this time a year, I switch my daily moisturizer (Jergens Shea Butter) to a self-tanner lotion (Jergens Natural Glow). What I love about this is that it goes on like moisturizer and the color grows layer upon layer so you can't "mess up". This product works really well. I've used it for about six years.
http://jergens.com/event.asp?a.....wguarantee
I don't need to be tan at all, but I just don't want to be transparent.

Kellee, I love the skirt and see nothing wrong in the way you have worn it for the picture. I'm as pale as pale can be and have just learned to embrace my lack of color as part of who I am. I still wear skirts and bare legs and just go with it. I'm also partially skeptical of self tanners (I've been reading waaay too much information about cosmetic additives and try to go as natural as I can in just about everything I use). Don't get me wrong, I have used them for special occasions but I just won't use them every week.

Anyway, that was a long winded way to say I think you look great just as you are!!

Wow, Kellee you look amazing in that skirt. I'm drooling over it! And I think that your white legs make it look even more amazing. I'm all for pale white skin - I think it's quite lovely. I would not bother with self tanner if I had your legs!! You don't need it! Be proud of your legs and get out there and flaunt them.

San, that's good to know about the self-tanners. I have never used any, but I have a large (probably 6 inches long by 3 inches wide) birthmark on my leg which is kinda like an age spot - a discolored area. It's faded over the years and is barely noticeable now. I would fear self-tanners would darken it up again.

Lena, I second Donna's comments about the use of tanning lotion. I try to match my legs to my arms, which are always a bit darker even with sunscreen use (some of it is sun damage from years past when I didn't use sunscreen on my arms). I don't use the lotion anywhere except my legs. And even then, one would never call my legs "dark" or "tanned," but at least you don't have to wear sunglasses to look at them!

Kellee, I just wanted to say that you look very elegant. Sorry, I don't have any advice since my skin is darker, but I would never think that you'd worry about your legs, they look great! I really like the outfit, and I don't think you need a shorter length for flats.

Beautiful outfit Kellee. I love the bright shoe idea with the black and white. The color of you glasses looks great.
I know you are too young for this situation but I want to mention something about the self tanners to those who have age spots on their skin, the tanner will dye the spots dark. I found for myself it is better to leave the self tanners alone than to have alot of dark spots.

Kellee-The skirt looks great! The red flats would work well with it. I use Nivea tan lotion. It's also a gradual tanner like Becky suggested. I like Nivea because it does not have a strong smell like some of the others I've tried. Although I haven't tried either of Becky's picks.

Lena-I'm very pale so I use the lotion on my legs to try to match the natural color of my arms which are a bit darker than my legs even though I use sunscreen on them. Not sure how that works? I don't use any tanner on my face, neck or arms, just my legs. With the gradual tanner you can avoid the streaking issue, but you do have to apply it regularly.

Lena and Navillustrious -I never thought about trying bright shoes before ,but it makes sense. Great idea.

Becky- I will try the tanning lotions you suggested. It is good to hear how often you put it on. I think I will get a good "jump on Spring" and start experimenting next month.

With your ideas ,I think I will keep the skirt afterall.

Ditto. I love your skirt. Also, just like your teal glasses brighten your complexion, brighter shoes would make the pale less noticeable. I live in Texas and worship sunscreen more than anyone I know, so I embrace my paleness.

Ladies who use tanning lotions, do you use them only on legs? Do you feel you need to make everything else match, like your arms and neck and face? I always felt awkward doing only the legs.

Kellee, I noticed that colorful summer shoes help solve the white leg problem.

Kellee, I also have very white legs, but have been very happy with the fake tanning lotions. I have used both Dove and Neutrogena brands. I buy the ones that gradually build up so there aren't dark streaks if you don't get it all worked in just right. I use tanning lotion, on average, 2-3 times a week during the "bare leg" months.

Hi,

I love this new skirt. But with my very white legs I do not know if I will keep it.
Any suggestions? I no longer worship the sun, so they do not get very tan. Maybe some fake tanning lotion?

I think it looks best with heels at this length.
If I have it taken up about 1" maybe I can pull off flat shoes?
I think I recently saw a pair of red patent leather flats with buckles?
