Another vote for #2! I think pulling the tee up a bit - you know, an improvised ruching of sorts, might work --- I do this all the time to add some texture (and hide bits) when I wear my slimmer fit tees. Low contrast is best, I think. This skirt would look fab with a light grey, blush, or mint color, too!

Unfrumped, actually I do like that dancer look. I don't have of those type of tops at the moment but they are very suitable for my body type so I may well get one again - thanks!

I think #2 is perfect.
If you have any boatneck or ballet neck tops, and elbow sleeve, those would look fab, too--widening the top silhouette a little. Like a dancer in a skirt. I can see they might be too hot for your mid-summer, though.

My favourite is #2 as well. The top skims nicely, without flattening the skirt and the draping puts the waistline at the right place.

I really like Angie's suggestion of a partial tuck.

I get the challenge with the waistband and tucking with this skirt. Have you tried a little side partial tuck?

Janet read my mind. I was thinking just that about your proportions. I think you are long waisted too and #1 adds to that effect throwing the proportions off. I rather like, either a tucked look or a shorter top.

I don't see why you couldn't belt and tuck -- you have a long waist. 5 looks good. On the contrary, 1 exaggerates the length of your torso and makes it appear your legs are short.

Not sure why you can't tuck - you have the teeny tiniest waist and it highlights that

Gradfashionista - Thanks. I can't tuck because it would reveal that dreadful shirring! Plus it would be too hot! I have decided to throw out the top in 3.
that top cost me $5 about 8 years ago - I think it has done its dash. I agree that it is too long.

Clara T - thanks. I looked up the Ella skirt and see what you mean - though in this case a top needs to be longer because, again of the shirring. I am keener on pencil skirts myself too - but in the hotter days of the Australian summer they are too hot.
Karie - Thanks. I like one best too - it is the most recent purchase too! I think I need to move away from such tight tops - that blue was was about $6 3 years ago so again, not a great loss to toss.
Dimity - thanks for remembering Angie's words! As for my feeling frumpy - yes - the problem is that the massive amount of gathers adds to my hips - and i have put on a wee bit of weight this last year and am already bigger there than I'd like. Also this skirt only cost me around $10 - I don't want to throw good money after bad with it. Perhaps I need to look for a gored or circle skirt to get the fullness necessary for hot weather without such hip breadth.

I like the column of white particularly; Angie said that would work and it does. My favourites are 2 and 4. I think the sleeves balance the skirt's fulness? But if we go back to when you wore this skirt in an earlier post and you said it felt frumpy, I think the most important thing is: do you feel good?

Cute skirt! I like #1 the best, then #2. I think 3 and 4 would look better with a looser top.

Non-tucker (and mostly pencil skirt-wearer) here. I love the blue and white color combo, but I think what may seem a bit off to you is the very slim fit of the tee juxtaposed over the fuller skirt. This lengthens your torso/shortens your bottom half. Agree that a belt would help the transition zone. What I like better for myself is a shorter (non-cropped) slimish fit top--so the top stops just below the waistband of the skirt (preserving the proportions but without a tuck). The skirt is adorable. Hope this helps. Look up the Boden Ella Skirt (US site) for an example. (On cell, limited copy paste capabilities evidently )

Maybe it's my screen, but why can't you tuck or belt with a wide belt or sash? I actually really liked the silhouette in 5. My next favourite is 2, the white column works well. The proportions in 3 don't seem ideal, I think because the to/skirt line seems to divide your body in half, and the skirt hem then divides the skirt/leg into quarters. That wasn't a great explanation, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
