Thanks for checking the fabric content and cleaning instructions. No doubt the shirts fit a little differently as well. Who would have guessed that two shirts in the same style would have such differing fabric content? Nordstrom should have noted that in its description.

Thanks, Laura. I have never gotten comfortable with sheer-ish fabrics, especially in white and in the office. I know it wouldn't bother a lot of other women and that I am just a bit idiosyncratic.

Sterling, it is not completely opaque. I'm comfortable wearing it over just a bra and no camisole, and you know I'm pretty conservative about that sort of thing. But you can see the basic outline of the bra through the fabric if you look. If you're looking for something that's 100% opaque and doesn't show anything at all, I would pass.

The J Crew version is so cute - of course it's already sold out in anything above a 10. Sigh.

Great top, Laura. I bet it looks fab on you. (A similar style from J.Crew has been a winner on my clients).

Yes, I thought of those two shirts too, Suz. It's a great shirt, Laura, excellent find!

It reminds me quite a lot of my shirt from Zara a few seasons back as well as the J. Crew popover shirt from this year. My Zara shirt has held up very well and is not sheer, but the armholes are on the deep side, which is good for ventilation but not modesty. I think the sleeve design on the Halogen and J. Crew are different (more practical).

GREAT review. I am happy to hear it can be washed because that was a problem for me in my climate.

Laura -- is the white even slightly sheer? I am looking for opaque whites these days. Thanks in advance

Just checked the tag on mine because I didn't remember any dry clean only designation - the white version is tagged for machine wash gentle, tumble dry low. My guess is the gray striped one might be the one that's dry clean only. (White is cotton/nylon/spandex, if anyone's curious.)

I picked this top up at Nordstrom last weekend - great construction, very sturdy. It's intentionally loose; the L fit my shoulders but I went with the XL so I can wear it over slim pants and not have it catch on the hips.
