No problem! I bought a UK size 10. I think the size guide on the site is pretty accurate, and my measurements are in line with the size I chose. A UK size 10 would normally be a US 6. I think the Monsoon dresses are true to size, but if the dress had been a fit-and-flare, and with a slight stretch, I would have picked an UK 8 because I often need to size down in tops. So depending on the silhouette and material, I often end up in different sizes.

While I was in the US last summer, I had a shopping spree at BR, and almost everything I bought is in size 4. I also bought a couple of items in 6P. If I tried something in US Small, it were often too big, so sizing is confusing! I hardly buy Extra Small at home.

Equivalent of European Small: UK 8-10 and US 4-6

I went to the site and found that they have it in blue, too. I'm smitten, been looking for a dress so much like that one for awhile. Do you mind sharing what size you got (UK or US, I'm confused a little by the sizing.

Ingunn, I think you made the right decision. The angle of these photos isn't the greatest which has affected people's judgement of how you look in a sheath. In reality you wear a sheath very well.

Woo-hoo, Angie! I'm very happy to hear that. I think it needs a little alteration, but I don't want it to be body con at all. A skimming fit, that's what I'm after.

I think it looks very fresh. I agree with alterations--just enough to skim and shape, and not super-tight. I think even though it may give, the tighter is is the more that will bag out. Also having a bit of ease makes it look like it's meant for warm weather.

Thanks for all advice. I've put it on hold until Monday, to check expenses for alteration. I could do it myself, too. Definitely the larger one, as the other is too tight in the bust. I liked it, it was a soft quality, sturdy enough for everyday wear. It was a quality piece (straight seams etc). The lace is quite heavy, which I liked. The lining is cotton voile, the shell is linen. The creasing didn't look problematic to me at all.

The way you're holding the dress in the last pic looks like a good fit Ingunn. I agree that the top needs some tailoring. Are the arm holes comfortable in this size?

As with anything linen, you have to make "peace with the crease" as Angie would say. I personally love linen (I had a pair of white linen trousers I wore to death) and the creases and wrinkling never bothered me - it's part of the aesthetic and charm of the fabric IMO.

I like this size, with the waist taken in. Linen stretches, by the way, unless it's lined, and it can shrink with washing.

As for the creasing --- the detailing in the dress make this far less noticeable and not a problem, to my eye. Love the white on you!

This is the larger size. It needs alteration, too wide around my waist. Otherwise ok?

ETA: While running errands downtown, I realized that I liked the dress too much to keep it on standby. It has all the qualities I wanted: Classic shape, beautiful fabric, interesting details, knee length, and it will not be difficult to have it tailored. So - I went back and picked it up. Tonight I've needled it, and it *will* become great once finished. I do realize that a sheath is a more challenging shape for me than fit-and-flare, but I really want to have more silhouettes than that in my wardrobe. When it is ready to wear, I'll show you more flattering photos
