Alright then, it's agreed - back it goes. I am not willing to settle for "just ok" and don't think it's worth it to alter this one. Zapotee - I might look into the Gap one and I assume that would not be considered breaking SYC since I'm returning one?

Shannon - GAP has that 1969 cropped denim jacket on sale in white - at different percentages depending on your URL - Mine shows 30% off. I bought both colors - faded denim and white, a while back. They are perfect!

I would not pay for alterations since you can probably get something that fits better right off the rack.

I think it is too boxy and big in the back and shoulder. I vote return.

Anna is right - I had my 1999 dark denim Diesel jacket altered to fit and it cost a small fortune (very labour intensive) - but was worth it because it's superb quality and has stretch. And it's a timeless piece. My 2009 faded Diesel denim jacket was perfect straight off the rack.

If you keep this one, it will need back alteration.

It looks pretty good for a thrifted white jacket. Maybe keep it until you find a better one? Actually it fits as well as one I paid full retail for this spring! I only recently noticed how much extra fabric there is in the torso.

I see it a bit to large in the back, and a bit too short for wearring with pants to my like, thus shorter lengths are great for skirts and dresses.
Just wanted to add, I do have a white denim jacket (post YLF) which is a tad longer(to hip) but it's quite streamlined and really a good fit which I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT from spring to fall! I keep it perfect crisp white, and use it mostly over dressier outfits to work, which I do want to lower the dressiness level-and/or raise it's trendyness(if that's making sense?). You can think wearring it instead of a crisp white jacket, which I do also have, but sometimes feel much too dressy and conventional for an everyday outfit to the office, and save it for more formal events. I am also wearring it today to my red linen midi, and ruffle front olive blouse, as it's a bit chilly today, but this white screams SPRING to mee, and feel fab, while adding a bit of warmth.
Also wear it casuals(sometimes), to skinny jeans, with longer tops, but then I really find it's longer length more flatterring...
So, I strongly encourage You to not give up on white denim jackets, as I find them very very usefull, and I'm sure there is one for you, either.

I was going to add that if there isn't any stretch to the fabric, I'd pass on alterations. There's a better jacket out there with your name on it.

Oh, no, another YLFer in search of a white denim jacket. My sympathies are with you!

I do think that the back is too big. I also think that white denim would be worn differently (somewhat) that a light wash. Then again, summer is on its way and you could probably get by without a white denim jacket if you want to save yourself the pain and anguish of trying to find the perfect one (OK, I'm projecting here!).

I've popped the jacket on again and really looked at it objectively - I think it's too big in the shoulders (by about an inch on each side) so I don't think even Wonder Woman taking it in will make it right. It only cost a few bucks so back it goes into the donate pile and I'll keep my eyes open for a better fitting one.

Thanks for the feedback ladies!

It is nice to have a white jacket. I have a casual linen one that I wear a ton (it is linen with a denim cut/style). I think you can do better (I'm not sure but are the shoulders a little low?)

I personally wear both my white and light wash jackets and find them useful for different outfits. So I do vote for white jacket ownership.

About the fit... yeah, the back is bubbling out quite a bit. But if it costs a lot to make a jacket perfect, it seems like a good idea to start with one that didn't cost much to begin with. I do like the fit from the front and the length (can probably do double duty with pants and skirts).

I know what you mean about white vs. light wash denim but I do think there are situations where a white one would be handy. The back does look big - I don't know if this is just this picture. I think it is more important to see where the shoulders fall, but it is hard for me tell in this picture. I do like it in principle though.

Im with Anna. I looks good from the front and the side but a little too much fabric at the back. I can't quite tell from the photos but how is it in the shoulders. It looks like it could be a tad too big?? (but as I say hard to see as I can't enlarge the photos on my desktop).

I don't know if you need it It would certainly be a useful addition to your wardrobe, particularly when a denim jacket would be perfect but you don't feel like the blue one. White is certainly nice in the warmer months.

I remember Angie said she spent a small fortune getting her denim jacket (I think it was Diesel) altered to look perfect. She also said it was worth it. I prefer full length sleeves over 3/4 if I was going to go to the trouble of getting it altered. But that's just a personal preference.

Here's another question I just thought of: do I even NEED a white denim jacket at all now that I have my cropped denim jacket that is a very light blue?
