But I need progressives now, too...</p> <p>I am not a candidate for regular LASIK because of that high prescription. They have to do a different procedure (more like cataract surgery) and it is much more costly and carries risk of retinal detachment. Since my mother has a detached retina, I felt the risk was too high (not to mention the price tag!!) If you get the measurements on these you might see what your ideal bridge width is. Bridge width CAN be adjusted a little bit by an expert optician, but it is tricky. </p> <p>As for the weight of plastic frames, I hear you. My nose is quite flat bridged and ALL glasses (even the ones with adjustable nose pads) seem to fall down on me, despite expert fittings and adjustments. I have never been able to wear my glasses for a full day without getting a headache. Please note that I have a very high prescription and even extra thin lenses are quite thick for me. That's an all-plastic frame right? From what I learned, only the ones with nose pads can be adjusted, so make sure the bridge fits you right.
