About walking in heels: we've had this discussion here before on the forum and I agree with the members that say that walking and feeling stable in heels come more naturally to some women than others and a lot has to do with the foot shape. A foot with a high arch/instep usually finds heels more comfortable. For yourself, I'd look at heels with a wedge or a nice chunky heel for stability.
