Thanks for chiming in, ladies!

Diana and Meredith, thanks so much for the recommendations! I'd LOVE to get some Docs or Danskos (well, actually, ideally, both!!) sometime, but they aren't available in India---except if I get lucky and someone is selling warehouse surpluses that are made in India for them! I'm entirely in love with Andrea's floral pair of Docs, for example, as well as your Danskos, Diana. I'd absolutely wear either of those!

I need to go look at your thread, Diana --- I've been away from the forum for a whole week (Just about gone into withdrawal!) so missed it, but I love Liberty prints!

And Meredith, I was just in Puma a few hours ago! Very disgruntled to see nothing but emphatically gearish running shoes, and certainly NOTHING like the flats in that link! However, this may be peculiar to this store rather than Indian availability generally. So I *will* keep an eye out.

Oooh! I vote for some Docs!

I can't wear most fashion sneakers due to poor support, so I am not much help I am afraid. But I like the concept for you if you find them comfortable. Of these, the blue would get my vote because it looks more supportive (but that could be mere appearances...)

I think both of these are adorable. I'm not sure of the comfort or support of these because I am not familiar with the brand. The green just jumps at me but the blue is a little more sedate so if you decide on these I would go with the pair you think will go with most of what you have. I can also totally see this being worn with a skirt or a dress, but I love the carefree, casual look.

Skechers are usually comfortable and here is a floral pair http://www.skechers.com/style/.....night/wnvp

If support is an issue, I like Meredith's recs. I don't think these or cons would do it - Cons hurt my own arches, anyway. :T

ManidipaM,
If Cons don't provide enough support you might look at Puma's which are a "fashion" tennis shoe or even the dansko veda line which is a clog/tennie. They come in all kinds of colors and patterns (I love my traditional black and white ones) and I can personally attest to them being supremely comfy. FWIW - I prefer the navy ones shoe show in the post. Here is a link to some puma styles

http://www.shop.puma.com/women.....US,sc.html

And here is a link to the Dansko Veda styles.

I prefer the blue, but I share the other ladies' concerns that these do not look substantial or supportive enough.

I know this is not a sneaker but how do you feel about Docs? The oxford style, if you can wear it (I can't, sadly), could sort of function like a sneaker, and they have all these cool florals right now that I love including those liberty ones I was drooling over earlier. I don't know how easy they are to get in India though...

I support Deborah on the navy because of versatility. Though I see why the green one's catch your eye (especially the soles!), but if versatility is key and you have to choose, then #2. And you shouldn't buy shoes because of the sole which will be on the ground (only if you can afford it!). Or are you planning to do some gymnastics?

Deborah, very sound point about greater versatility! I guess I'm a bit charmed by the green one's crazy sole, which is interfering with my logic handling centre ;-)

Denise, excellent point that I had not considered. I have a pair of running shoes of similar construction so I sort of assumed... but you're quite right: these may very well prove delicate. My trouble with Cons, though, is they're proving too inflexible and thus *not* very supportive off-road; on flat surfaces, they're great for a few hours.

Should have asked above: Any other brand suggestions for supportive, flexible and a little more weather-resistant than Cons' canvas? Don't mean to splash around in puddles or sleeting rain, but should handle a short drizzle and wet tracks.

These look really delicate, like they won't have enough support. I guess I like a substantial sneaker like Cons when you're pairing sneakers with jeans and casual pants.

M I have to start by saying that I don't love sneakers. I quite like the Converse range but that's about it. But I am suprised that I like these! I think I would choose the second pair (the navy) as I think they woul be more versatile and look more substantial and supportive to the foot. I could see these with jeans and other pants as you suggest.

Considering floral sneakers, to kill three birds with one shoe (sorry about awful violent imagery!):
- my walking-all-day fashion sneakers from Hush Puppies are starting to look done
- I'd like something patterned to replace my animal-print ballet flats that broke
- I'd like a pair of colourful shoes as my red crochet ballet flats are starting to look scruffy at long last and the animal
I realize the sneakers aren't as versatile as ballet flats --- I'd wear them with jeans (different blue denim washes, a stone pair, and maybe a red I'm eyeing) mostly, the odd khakis or chinos; they won't work with dresses and skirts, but I think my new metallic sandals should take care of that, so that I'm not digging myself a new hole.

These are the two options I'm considering:

http://www.jabong.com/Green-Sneakers-93340.html

http://www.jabong.com/Navy-Blu.....93347.html

Opinions, please? And don't hesitate to warn me off both, either!

I have a pair of grey Converse sneakers in the same category, and they're fine for a definitely dry climate as long as I don't walk too long in them (they're not as supportive or comfy as the Hush Puppies). So it's not an emergency; I can wait for something else too.
