It has the sleeve on the outside, and a long zippered pocket on the other side. Then on the inside it has a padded compartment that easily fits my 13" MAC &amp; iPad, could definitely fit a larger computer. There's a few more pockets as well.&nbsp;</p> <p>When it's packed, and not necessarily 100% full but let's say at least 50% full, it stands up just fine. Though I do frequently lay it down under the seat in front of me so I can use it as a footrest (my legs are short enough they are prone to dangling uncomfortably in airplane seats).&nbsp;</p> <p>I almost always have in it: laptop, a bag of chargers, small crossbody (tucked in after I have passed through security), scarf, and a jacket/topper, earphones.&nbsp; That would get me to maybe 60% full. (ETA: I can fit about that much, less the topper unless it's a thin lightweight cardigan, in the Los&amp;Sons, and it'll be 90% full).&nbsp;</p> <p>It is by no means fashionable. It's very simple, but functional, and just the right size for longer trips when I still want to take only a carry-on roller bag plus it.&nbsp;</p> <p>For the shorter work trips I invested in the Los&amp;Son's bag so that I could have a fashionable laptop bag once I arrived. It just doesn't cut it for trips over say 3 or 4 days. I finally got myself an iPad as so many of our meetings these days are "laptops down" anyway. So once I got that, I also got a Knomo iPad bag. You are right, it won't stand up by itself empty, though it does lie nicely flat. Key feature for me is the sleeve that allows you to pop it over your roller bag handles. And yes it is nylon -- and seems indestructible as it looks brand new and I've taken it along on so many trips for years.&nbsp;</p> <p>I also more recently invested in a Lo&amp;Sons laptop bag, which is smaller and much more tailored. It's the one that has a nylon inner (with the sleeve to go over roller bag handles) and an outer leather shell which you can swap out. I use the shell to pack my clothes within the bag. It's nice too but only works for shorter trips as it doesn't pack anywhere near as much stuff as the larger B&amp;R bag.&nbsp;</p> <p>I'm on a trip right now and brought the B&amp;R with me. It has laptop, ipad, charger cords, a book, jean jacket, hoodie, and a bag with my beach stuff (2 bathing suits, two cover-ups, rashie, flip flops, packable hat).
