Adding to the consensus on the second dress. And I second San's call for a pop of color.

I like the second one a lot. I think little details (like buttons) really add something to a simpler dress. You look great in it!

I think number two is more flattering but either could work with the right accessories - a chunky necklace or a larger cuff bracelet or a statement watch or a colorful bag or a scarf (maybe the Angie knot would work with dress # 2) or a cropped cardigan in a brighter color. The options are endless...

Yup, I like the second one too! Maybe you could add a colorful, fun strand of beads to ease your way into color

Hubby has great taste. I like the second one for the reasons you have stated. It looks very good on you and fits you to a T.
The first dress could benefit by adding a scarf at the neck, maybe. The scarf tails hanging down migh look good against the fabric and give you the elongating effect.

I have to agree wtih the other ladies. The second dress looks fab on you. The fit is more flattering and there are a myriad of ways to style it as to change the overall feel of the outfit!

The secod one! No doubt! I like black also but you can always add color adding a colorful jewelery or a colorful bet and bag (or both).

I like the second one better, but I think that you can style it a bit more. Try a colorful cami or tank under and open the snaps a bit, belt it with a brown belt, and wear it with leggings?
