I second Becky's point. Although I am a long way from getting my accessories done the way I like it, it is great that even when I am not trying, I have great glasses!

Yet another great point, thanks for the reminder Becky :)

I have never thought about the specs that way. I mostly wear contacts anyway, but this comment made me very excited about purchasing the new specs I plan very soon.

Just about everything. However, the capsule wardrobe idea and the advice on body type really resonated with me. Both of these issues are at the root of my inability to feel comfortable with my wardrobe and have motivated me to make some genuine changes in my life, rather than just continuing to shop and return frantically.

I love how Angie is able to have a clear style philopsophy and vision that can flex to fit all styles and changing trends, but still remain consistent enough for a simpleton like me to follow.

Great way of putting it Sveta - Angie read my own style fears. I think that describes why I haven't just glanced over this style blog, but got... well... addicted.

Crasdy, sounds like you made a whole journey from negative emotions to truly enjoying getting dressed. I think it's taken for granted too often that getting dressed is easy, but we find ourselves realizing it is not necessarily. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

My thoughts echo Sveta's in that it hasn't been one post but all those that help me to over come fears. Her love of frocks has encouraged me to wear them more. Sweater dresses were new to me and I love them. Because of Angie's guidance, I've been having fun trying many styles with confidence that I'd never have considered.

The blog post that resonated most with me with the one written by Angie's sister-in-law Keri this past July. Keri has a body type that is very similar my own, and she expressed some skepticism over wearing certain styles. But she kept an open mind, Angie found some fabulous items for her at the NAS, and Angie and Keri styled her new purchases beautifully. Keri looked absolutely amazing. The proverbial lightbulb went off in my head, and I realized that I too could wear certain styles that I had completely dismissed without even giving them a chance.

I have been having so much fun ever since. I went to the NAS and purchased many of the same items as Keri, and I've continued to acquire new styles (new to me, that is: tunic length tops, knee-high boots, skinny jeans, ponte knit pants, scarves, etc.). I love getting dressed in the morning, and I really have to thank Angie and Keri for helping me see the possibilities.

I know I am just repeating myself about the post where Angie suggests getting a better fit from skirts by pulling them up to the natural waist and bringing them in, so they do not roam around on the hip.

This absolutely transformed my entire wardrobe. By doing this small thing...I literally altered every skirt I owned and loved the results so much I have bought MANY skirts since and I think skirts are my favorite clothing item these days Thank you Angie.!

I have learned so much and am so grateful for it that I will forever be Angie's devoted fan and follower!

I don't think it was a particular post for me but rather a feeling that Angie read my own style fears (such as skinny pants, sheath dresses, shorter hemlines) and helped me to find an antidote for them. She did it by describing in details how to make them work for by body type and that was really eye opening! And of course, having fun with fashion - that never occurred to me before but it is so true!

Thank you Angie :)

I would like to encourage others to contribute as well... reading the posts so far has been truly eye-opening. We all take different things from the same posts or comments, and also I love getting to know other members through their style "awakenings"... if it makes sense.

E.g. there was a thread a while ago http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....short-to-_ and I remember Angie's "Life is too short... to not have fun with fashion." and although it was an interesting statement then, reading Queen Mom's comment here made me personally less prone to hanging my own head in shame over my own fashion mistakes.

And I must admit I need some shortcuts as well... there's obviously been so many good things here before I discovered ylf and the best way to get the message fast is to ask a question from the title.

So please... join in and share your favorite style advice

These were both said already, but I think the number one mantra for me is to have fun with fashion. If it is making me frustrated then I remember to just let go for now. The other one is challenging environmental norms by, for example, wearing dresses to work.

Angie's belief that style is beyond size really clicks with me. She has helped me realize that any body type can wear stylish and trendy clothes. When so many others preach that you have to have a certain body type to wear certain clothes, Angie's outlook is refreshing and realistic. It works for me.

Angie's post on how "Curvy girls were made for dresses" really encouraged me to sport more of them. I've always loved wearing dresses, but had confidence issues doing so. Now my wardrobe wouldn't function without the several that I have.

For some reason, I also reacted very strongly to her post on the "big messy scarf" look. I could picture her outfits very clearly and immediately wanted to try it...so much so that I ran out and bought an additional scarf after work that very day. I've been styling my scarves that way ever since, and I now wear a scarf at least once a week! That's a huge change from this bona fide memeber of Team Necklace.

For me it was Angie's admonishment to "have fun with style".
As a recovering perfectionist, it is easy to get caught up in second guessing every last detail and every purchase. Giving myself permission to have fun and experiment with new looks really takes a burden off of getting dressed every day. I can wear an outfit and at the end of the day decide not to wear that combination again without hanging my head in shame at how bad I looked all day long. It's kindof like trying a new recipe. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If it wasn't a hit with the family, I can tweak it next time, or throw the recipe out without feeling shame.

With all the great blog posts and inspiring photos, accessorized by the forum conversations and style advice, I was wondering which one Angie's advice or observations you read and thought "this one was written with me in mind"? What changed your outlook on things or gave you the incentive to create that edge in your style or just simplified fashion choices for you or encouraged your latest purchase that was maybe outside your own comfort zone? How was it reflected in your styling choices?
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few examples, as our own fashion personas change and style evolve, but I'd invite you to share as many or little as you want. I am sure it could be a very interesting read to see what gives us the push.
And why.

I'll start by saying that in one of the recent blog posts Angie wrote about wearing skirts and dresses in the winter more, and she made the comment that those garments are made for us ladies, so we should make the most of them. (That's actually how I interpreted it, I still need to find that post.) I can't explain why it clicked with me, perhaps because I have a drawer full of really pretty tights and I thought I should actually start building my daily outfits around show them off the best way, but it did, and I haven't worn trousers to work since
