You'll probably have more luck popping in to mainstream stores like Ann Taylor (and the LOFT) and Banana Republic. BR and AT will have excellent suiting and jeans in her size. The LOFT will be better for casual fare. I don't know of a Talbots in the city but I'm sure there is one somewhere. That was the store Angie blogged about not too long ago. I'm a long time reader of youlookfab but this is my first venture into the forum, so, hi!!</p> <p>I'm moving to NYC next week from the UK (cannot wait!) and my shopaholic mum is going to be visiting next month. Can any new yorkers out there tell me some great places to take her shopping? She's petite (5'1") and a UK size 12-14 (US 10-12), and has quite a lot of trouble over here finding well-fitting clothes in her size. She has already mentioned that she wants to pick up a new trouser suit and some jeans. I'm assuming the big department stores all have petite sections, but any other suggestions will be gratefully received. She's not on a super tight budget, but she does love a good bargain and is planning to bring an empty suitcase to fill up, so I want to create the perfect shopping itinerary for us! She's in her early 50s but young at heart. </p>
