For vintage, try Bobby from Boston, on Harrison Avenue (which features a lot of art galleries and holds a fun open studios every first Friday). It's *mostly* men's clothing but they have a small women's section. It can be hit or miss there - you never know what you will find.

Also over near MIT in Kendall Square is a large vintage/consignment place. I am blanking on the name now. My DD's love that place. It's popular with college students. To be honest, I have seem much better vintage in London - so I would lower expectations.

If you are interested in consignment, try Second Time Around. They have a web site, and it's a local chain. There is one on Newbury street.

There are a lot of niche boutiques all over Boston, not just on Newbury, but that's a good place to start, and it's near the Copley mall which is huge. For other ideas like sample sales, you might sign up temporarily for Daily Candy. http://www.dailycandy.com/boston/.

For shoes, do hit DSW in downtown crossing. It's a shoe paradise!

And you could also poke around http://www.boston.com - the Fashion page and the What to Do events listings - for ideas.

Thanks for replying. Anthropologie is about to open on Regent Street in London, but if it is anything like the branch of Banana Republic, it will be cheaper to shop in the US.

I will definitely head out to a couple of the malls, are there any vintage shops or markets that you would recommend?

Newbury Street, Copley and the Prudential Center. They are all right near each other and you will be able to go to unique boutiques, all the chain stores and the large departments stores.

Have fun!!!

Cambridgeside Galleria has a lot of mainstream stores and I think it has a BR. Here is the directory:

I know we have a couple of Boston people on the forum who might be better able to answer this question but I thought I would chime in for now. Newbury street has a good blend of cute little boutique stores as well as chain stores like Zara. Nearby is Copley place with some higher end designer stores. Cambridge Galleria was a recommendation from the board to me when I was in Boston shopping. It has all the big chain stores - Banana Republic, Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft, J Crew, Jacob, Club Monaco. Based on your link, maybe you should also take a look at Anthropologie for some boho/romantic looks. My favorite mall in the Boston area is Natick but that's a bit out from the city.

Hi, I hope that you do not mind a newbe asking a question. I have been lurking for a while and really love this site!

I will be in Boston for a couple of days at the end of August and since my sport loving husband gets to go to a Red Sox game I get to go shopping ;)

I am planning on visiting shops like Banana Republic (much cheaper in the US than London), but wondered if you could offer any advice on where else to visit? I enjoy shopping in niche shops to buy something special or standout.

If it helps, my two favourite items of clothing I bought in New Zealand when I lived there from this designer Andrea Moore - http://www.andreamoore.co.nz/

Do you need any other information about me?

Thank you!
