Thanks for the input everyone. I ended up buying a regular white camisole at Target ($8) and a yard of elasticized lace at Joanne's ($2.50) and cropped the cami and added the lace myself. It looks like I did it myself, but that's okay... I was after pure function. Atleast I've gotten rid of all that extra length that was such a PITA. And I can use the leftover fabric for a tube top

It kind of reminds me of those half undershirt/training bra things from years ago. The hubs is going to be so excited to see me in it... LOL

It was me that mentioned them - I linked to Ebay - that's a possibility? There is a store here in the UK called New Look which has them in lots of colours every summer - it's a lower budget shop aimed at teenagers/younger women, maybe a bit like Forever 21?

I like them because they aren't lacy, they stay firmly in place, and my middle still has a chance to breathe/be cool under the top layer!

Hi, in Canada I have seen them at Garage, Walmart and Joe Fresh. It is a great idea for summer dresses.

Someone at work told me she found the things that attach to your bra that "bridge the gap" at JC Penney. I think they are like little bibs that hook around each strap of your existing bra. I've seen those in very expensive versions online (can't remember where at the moment). I bought a real bra with the built in lace across the front, but it's really just too lacy. I prefer solid cotton.

I've seen them in the Soft Surroundings catalog and on the website. There is a Soft Surroundings store here in Denver; there are a few other of their stores scattered around the US, not sure if you are near one.

I found my Hanes bandeaus at Beall's Outlet here in FL, on par with Ross. These aren't full cami's though - just the bandeau. Looks like Target has their version as well. http://www.target.com/p/self-e.....A-13470922

I use the Second Base Cami's that Angie recommended here.

I also have a few bandeau thingies from Target.

I realized that I tend to overlook my dresses that need a camisole on these hot days because I don't want that extra layer of the camisole... but these are the days that I most want to wear these dresses!
I've seen them on-line.. in fact someone posted about them the other day in her end of season musings, but I've never seen them in person. Probably because I've never looked! Please direct me to the nearest store that would carry them
