The Fiona Apple concert was fantastic, by the way. She was VERY powerful and it was such a cool experience to get to enjoy her performance face to face. What a treat!

Mama Susie and Vicki, your comments are so incredibly sweet. You've made me blush!

Aida, good point and I think that's partly why it looked funny unbelted to my eye. But I'm not sure I like it exactly belted, either.

Tanya, if I were going to work instead of being on my feet all night on the bus and at a concert, I certainly would (and will!) But as it is, I was SO glad to be in low wedges.

Wow! Huh. Perhaps the fact that both are black and white makes the outfit more low contrast even though the patterns are quite distinct. Either way, I'm quite glad that it works. Thank you!

Deborah- thanks! I'm not sure which glasses you were asking about, but the first pair are black plastic with a marbellized white inner color, and the second pair are bronze with a light green inner color. I have a 3rd pair that are burgundy and turquoise on the inside. I'm very much a fan on contrasting colors in my specs.

I share Jenava's comments in that you know and have nailed your style, Kari. I love the mixed prints in 1-3, the bold blue and green colors in 4-5 and the animal print with green in 6-8! You look amazing, every day and, yes, giving your cobalt bag a special honor gave me a smile, because I love the way you write these WIWs.

The polka dots and chevron mix are perfection - and with a touch of turquiose - it takes it over the top. Love it! Also, I'm jealous that you're going to a Fiona Apple concert - she's one of my favorite female musicians - your outfit for her concert looks great - the animal print with the emerald green is so easy on the eyes! I like the colors of your other outfit too - they are beautiful together - but, I'm not sure about the belt either. I don't have any good suggestions and maybe I wouldn't' have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it (I hate that when that happens!)

I love how you mix colors and patterns! The combination of emerald and cobalt is fabulous. I think the belt might be a tad too big, but a belt definitely finishes the look. I love your sense of style and how you combine colors. I am filing this combo away for future copying!

Ohhh I ADORE #1-3, so so fresh!! And of course they feature my favorite specs ^^ I think I see what you're saying about the belt in #4/5, but really this wider one looks good to my eye because of the skirt's midi length; if it was above the knee I think you would need a thinner belt there. Lovely colors there. And you look lovely in #6-8, emerald really DOES go beautifully with leopard! Especially with a dash of bold red lip! Hope you have a blast at the concert

I love them all, and I'm surprised he first one is my favorite. I really love the touch of color in the necklace. I would not have thought to put those patterns together, but they're great! Let us know how Fiona Apple is. I saw her in March -- she was a little shaky, but good. She's coming back here in a few months. Have fun!

I love them all -again! :-)
Actually polka dot and chevron do not seem hectic to my eye - maybe because they are the same colors and similar scale? Or maybe because I am as pattern mix crazy these days as you are?:-)
Love cobalt and emerald together - great color combination.

Wow Kari - what a fabulous week! I'm particularly drawn to the outfit in pics #6-8. I love emerald green with animal print - an absolute favourite of mine. And the fit of the blouse and skirt in that combination are incredibly flattering.

Love #1-3 and I have to say my eyes but have really adjusted to extreme pattern mixing because I just love this. The touch of color is lovely and the chevron stipes and the polka dots just look like they were meant to be. Love your glasses too. What colors are they? I think I have almost the same in a purple-y brown with blue:)

I suppose you could call these 3 outfits deconstructed versions of the animal print & pattern mixing theme that I've been playing around with.

1-3: To work. Okay, I felt like the chevron striped skirt and polka dotted banded blouse were pretty extreme in my pattern-mixing repertoire, even if both were black and white. When I looked into the mirror, I felt like I was looking at one of those Magic Eye books with hectic prints that practically make your eyes jump around, and I was sure I was in for some questions at the office (of the "What were you thinking?" variety.)
However, either people have adjusted to my stylistic quirks, or else it didn't look too terribly abnormal.
I paired both pieces with a multi-strand turquoise beaded necklace and aqua pumps.

#4-5: Another work day outfit. Emerald with the leopard print pumps again, this time by way of the knit emerald midi pencil skirt. I wore a cobalt button-down blouse over the skirt; somehow, it looked incomplete without a belt, but I'm not sure if I like the choice of having a belt that is this wide with the outfit.

#6-8: Tonight, to watch Fiona Apple perform (with Blake Mills.) I'm excited - I've never had the pleasure of watching Fiona Apple perform live before, though I've loved her music for half of my life.
Knit emerald skirt, leopard print silk pussycat-bow shell, black bead and cord necklace, cracked bone-colored patent wedge sandals.

Honorable mention to my cobalt handbag for being the unsung MVP of the week.
