ahahaha how funny to see one of my 7 year old threads get resurrected! ;)

For the record I don't think I have worn a watch since pre-COVID times. Maybe I should start again.

Intrigued by how many lefties put their watches on the right hand. I am a left-hander who doesn't make many modifications to our right-handed world and just does things "righty".

My watch is on my left hand, facing outward, and I virtually never leave it off. I often wear two watches: a big "boyfriend" style like Angie's (only silver) along with a tiny, dainty, diamond one that belonged to my late mother-in-law. I love the contrast.

I'm a left-hander and wear my watch on the right hand for security and comfort reasons. A good article on the subject https://timepieceking.info/wha.....tch-go-on/

In my opinion it doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable.

I wear my watch high also. Mostly because it slips up there... but also because the little knob pokes my the back of my hand and pains me when worn at the wrist... that little thing really hurts!

I wear mine exactly like you do: a little high up on my wrist, snug, facing out, and on my right hand, even though I am right-handed. That's a habit I picked up when I got married. I didn't like my rings and watch on the same hand/wrist. It looked too busy to me, so I switched my watch to my right arm.

I'm right handed and I wear my watch on my left arm, pretty much on the wristbone and kept pretty snug. I can't stand watches or bracelets that move around, they drive me nuts. I do take it off when I'm working on my laptop because it'll clunk on the case, but usually only when I'm away from home - at home I've got a separate keyboard and mouse that have a smaller form factor so the watch isn't a problem.

I normally wear watch to my left arm and bracelet to my right arm. Like you, I always prefer to wear it before my wrist. Either it is leather strapped fastrack watch or metal strapped Titan watch whatever it may be I wear it before my wrist always.

I wear my primary watch just like you wear yours. I also have a bracelet watch that I wear loosely, like a bangle bracelet, and a tank style watch that I wear loosely too. The tank style watch is light enough that it isn't uncomfortable. Both the bracelet style and the tank style move around on my wrist and arm, but it doesn't bother me too much. What does bother me? I have a large, heavy men's style watch that I bought and that is sized loosely to sit low across my wrist. I hate it. It bangs the heck out of my wrist and is heavy and uncomfortable. I can't quite decide what to do with it, though. If I size it to wear it like you wear yours, it will take away some of the oversized borrowed men's watch vibe that I bought it for. If I don't do anything, then I won't wear it because it is that uncomfortable. sigh.

I bend my hand that way when I knit and when I do certain types of procedures in lab (although admittedly I do not bend it all the way back) and I can definitely feel the watch if it's too low.

My hands can bend like yours and I do feel the watch there, but it can slide out of the way. BUT, I'm not "supposed" to be bending my wrist like that; I avoid it whenever I can. Do you find yourself needing to bend like that? I do if I'm doing push-ups or other exercise, but I take my watch off for workouts.

Ah. Good question. Not at all, Diana. I can do everything with my watch. And I carry mountains of hanging garments when I shop with clients and review closets. The face does move from side to side a little and over my wrist bone - and I love that movement. It's visually fluid and adds a modern touch to my outfits. But it's tight enough to not move around too much. Although I love the look of a very loose oversized watch, it's uncomfortable for my lifestyle.

Mine bends back 90 degrees or so, I find I do a little flick of my wrist to move the watch up if I need to bend my hand.

That being said, since getting sick two weeks ago, I somehow haven't managed to get my watch on in the interim!

So even my very small watch I wear in the same place, high, above the wrist bone. It does rotate around a bit but since the face is very small and rectangular it doesn't bother me (I do turn it back whenever I notice though). I wear my watch on my left arm because I am right handed. I do have very small wrists as well, like many of you, but the saving grace is that my wrist bone is knobby, so it keeps the watch from sliding down. (But a bracelet watch won't stay up, that's why I stick with leather bands).

Mani, that's interesting. I usually just wear both my bracelets and my watch on the left arm. I kind of like that if I'm wearing a big watch it also prevents the bracelets from going too low; I don't like anything (watch or bracelet) to be below my wrist and touching my hand. My big wonder woman style cuffs have to go on the right arm though, no room for that and a watch!

DV, you reminded me that in college sometimes I would turn my watch to the inside of my arm so that it was easier to glance at in in lecture! ;) I guess now that we all have cell phones it's not really an issue any more.

Angie (and others who wear it a little lower) does the big watch face impede your hand movement? I have a feeling I might be a little bit double jointed, because my hand actually bends backward to about a 90% angle, and a big watch face at the back of the wrist like yours prevents it from doing that, which feels really restrictive to me! Do other people's hands not bend backwards at all?

ETA: Here are some really odd looking pictures of my arm so you can see what I mean. I promise my arm does not look as creepy in real life! First picture is how I wear my watch, and how far my hand bends. In the second picture I pushed the watch down to my wrist, and you can see that the face is preventing my wrist from bending all the way. This is an ~20mm watch, so you can imagine the big 40mm one is even worse. (Also you can see my watch tan line, which shows how far up I usually wear it!)

I am left-handed, and wear a watch on my right wrist, I like to wear my leather-strapped watch just above the distal ends of my radius and ulna (the knobbly bits). If I have a metal watch, I like to wear it larger so it flops down to my wrist, like in Angie's photo.

You can see the position of my oversized watch size well in these pics. It's loose and flops over my knobbly wrist bone on either side. But not too loose that it slides down my forearm. I tried that look because visually it appeals to me. But practically it does not work.

I like to wear it down below the wrist bone, practically on the base of my hand. But my Mio Petite HR watch has to go up higher to get a good reading. My other fashion watches are all a bit loose and slide. I have very small wrists.

I either go with a loose, bracelet fit (for metal bands), and for fitted leather, I've always worn my watches where you wear them - higher on the arm. To wear it on my actual wrist would drive me INSANE.

And I always wear my watch and/or fancy bracelets on my left wrist. I am right-handed. It keeps it/them out of my way, and less prone to damaging the arm-candy.

I am right handed and wear it on my left wrist facing outward. I wearit just above my wrist so it does not impede my ability to bend my wrist.

I wear my watch on my left arm, I am also left-handed facing outward. I think when I was younger it was on my right arm because my right arm was less active.
I found it easier somewhere around college to wear my watch on my left arm because it was easier to tell the time without looking obvious in a small classroom.

BTW -- I have small wrists (6.25 inches) and my bracelet style watches slide below my wrist bone and tend to slide around (the face could be anywhere).

I have a large-faced watch with a narrow leather strap, and I wear it right at my wrist. I like it tight so it doesn't slip over my wrist bone. I wear it whenever I go out but usually take it off at home.

When I wear a metal watch, I wear it looser and don't mind if it slides around.

Diana great question!! I wear a very find gold and diamond watch every day. It's very delicate. I am right handed to I wear it on the left hand at the wrist and I like my bands tight (this is not as tight as I like) on the outer arm. I do have a large skeleton watch, the man watch thing, in which case I wear it tight, outer exactly as you do. To me it's about size of the face. My delicate watch is comfortable at the wrist because it's tiny, a big watch face would be in the way. So how you wear yours makes perfect sense to me!! Love watches! Love yours with its pretty face and fabulous pink band!!
