I have picked up some fantastic belts at TK Maxx (the UK equivalent of TJ Maxx) I grabbed a Betsey Johnson belt for £12.00. I also love Noa Noa stretch belts, super comfortable and no slipping http://www.inisonline.com/prod.....etty-belt/ which I have picked up on sale. I have webbing belts which came with Ben's jeans and also own some high street suede belts. Yep, I'm a belt addict.

Great thread. I am belt-challenged, and for some weird reason it is one of those things I hate to spend money on.

QM, thanks so much for the info on how to put extra holes into belts. I have a lot I need to do that to.

Marley, Angie has a neat way of handling excess belt length:

Thanks ladies! I'll have to pay more attention the next time I go shopping.

Isabella, thanks for the link! What a clever solution (and yes, it's definitely ok to post links on here).

Oh thank you Isabella for the link to the tutorial on how to deal with "too big" belts! I just tried it with my 2 B.R. belts that I've never worn - and it worked! So, I now have 2 new belts in my wardrobe! QM - my problem was not with hammering a couple of new holes into the belts - but was with the extra flap of belt that resulted from that - but, now I'm good to go! Yeah!

Target, believe it or not! They have real leather belts that start at a low price point and often are marked down. It's the only place I can regularly find leather belts for under $25.

ebay (for vintage), j crew (for classic), and anthro (for quirky) are my go-to spots for belts. I've also been known to buy belts from the latter two on ebay.

Good question, Kate! I search for belts whenever I shop: TJMaxx, JCP, Marshalls, Belks, Target, SteinMart AND Ebay.

I am especially fond of Fossil belts which fit me to perfection and have scored some great belts on Ebay, since I know exactly what size and style to look for. I also have nice leather belts by Michael Kors, Calvin Klein Jeans, Lauren by Ralph Lauren - each belt was under $30!

My best score is a perfect taupe leather studded Linea Pella belt that retails for over $300 - I rummaged through the sale rack at TJM and paid only $14.99!

I always take my specific belt measurements (and my mini-tape measure) with me when I shop. This saves tons of time and guess-work.

IOMG, so right about the belts making an outfit!! I never thought of it that way, but yes, I totally agree... I only have a few belts with 1 being worn every day as my favorite (jeans belt).. I need to stock on belts to help make my outfits pop..
I came across a very interesting way to cinch belts, it helps as you're not limited to the specific size or holes of the belts in question, check it out:

http://anthrosdottir.blogspot......-belt.html

I hope it's ok to post it here? It's not my blog (obviously), but the way she ties the belts is fab!

Marley-- a hammer and nail is all you need to "downsize" a belt. Hammer from the back first and then go through again from the front.
Belts are always an afterthought for me. I have a few from New York and Company, mainly because I needed to spend more $ to bring up my total to be able to use a coupon. I need to spend a day just shopping for belts. I would try Nordstrom Rack, Macy's, NY&co., Express...
I honestly think if you go to the mall and only walk into stores to look at their belts you'll find some great ones.

Puffenstuff has a thread going right now on "light bulb" moments - and mine is the belt as accessory. I've just begun to realize in the last couple of weeks that belts can make a major impact on an outfit! I have never spent very much money on belts - while I don't hesitate at all with hats, handbags, scarfs, etc. - so most of my belts are from Target or thrifted. I do have a couple that I bought from B.R. a year or so ago, but I was feeling really fat and so I bought them in a size too big for me. I've been thinking that I should take them to my cobbler and see if he could downsize them for me! I'll be anxiously watching this thread, because I too would like to know where people are getting their belts!

Most of mine came with some piece of clothing, like a skirt or dress or pants. How embarrassing! I've gotten a couple of great ones at the consignment store lately. And the others are from a trip to the outlet mall some years ago.

For some reason I never want to spend money on belts. Isn't that weird?

The majority of my belts come from thrift stores. Can't beat fun, colorful or trendy belts for under $3! ( I make sure to check out the belts in the guys' section as well.)

I've also gotten some of my other belts from Van Heusen Outlet, Stein Mart, NY&Co., Target and Old Navy.

Also, don't be afraid to separate a belt from the clothing it came with and use it with other items.

I'm curious. I wear them often, but rarely think to shop for them.

I'm ashamed to say the only store I own more than one belt from is Forever 21, and I'm not a fan of their quality. My other belts are from BR, H&M, Gap, Tulle, and Etsy. Any recommendations?
