@Gigi

Thank you for all the advice! I will try measuring a top I have and see where the loft shirt would reach down to. Trial and error is so true with this :D

I did go to Target and tried on some tops that hit the waistline just to get an idea, which look best? https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....-and-comfy

Jess, for the Loft top, it says 21" from shoulder to hem.

If you are bad at measuring yourself, I would take a top you already own and measure 21" from shoulder to hem. Then put a piece of masking tape there. Then you can try on the top and see where the hem on the Loft shirt will hit.

Loft often has sales, so if you see something you like and it's not on sale, wait a while, because you should be able to get it at better than full price.

I don't have a particular top from BR in mind. I just mentioned BR because I know that they usually list the length of items on their website. I hope that if you go there, the sales associate has a measuring tape! Sometimes SAs are clueless, unfortunately! But the SAs should know what they have that might have the right length of hem for you, so it's definitely worth a try. This personal style thing is a lot of trial and error, believe me.

I was never good at measuring either, but I got better at it. You just have to start somewhere.

I just found this online at Loft, but I have never shopped at Loft before nor do I have one nearby to visit and try on this shirt and it doesn’t mention any tall sizes so I am not sure if it will fit me https://www.loft.com/wrap-back.....Color=2222

Yes, Loft often runs long- sometimes even the petites are too long for me! Big yes to measuring. If you have any shirts that are close to what you want, measure the shirt itself, not your body.

@Gigi
I do have a Banana Republic close to me, the pricing isn’t too bad for at least two shirts. Is there a particular shirt you suggest from them?

@Angie
When I can yes I always buy tall, but sometimes certain shirts do fit me in regular length it all depends though I have to try everything on first to make sure.
often ordering online is an issue in case shirts are too short; so I try to avoid that when possible but just as often tall sizes in store are either missing or limited stock :/ Its even more confusing when I need a tall shirt but for this it must only hit the waistline, your suggestions look like they might work!
I like that BR lists shirt dimensions I rarely buy from them and usually in store, I am not good at taking my own measurements, but like I mentioned to Gigi I do have one close so perhaps they will help me with that and to find the right size and get an idea on what best matches the shirt I am looking for. If I get two nice shirts I will be happy. Thank you!

These are worth a try at BR. They have other colours.

You could maybe try Loft. In my experience, their shirts run kind of long. They also give at least some measurements on their website. I think the only way you're going to find tops the length you want is to find a retailer whose website lists top length.

Nordstrom and Banana Republic also often list top length, but they might be out of your price range.

I wonder if you could measure the length of that top (it does seem to hit perfect!) and plug that into a google search... if that would turn up anything. I also wonder if you’d find anything on Etsy, from a small maker...

@April
I suppose that could work as a last resort, but it would be better if I could buy a few that fit already to save some money.
@Laura
I’m sure juniors would be shorter but I imagine they would be too tight on me and thus too short in every other part of the shirt too.

As someone who’s 5’9” with a long torso, I find these all the time and have to pass because they’re not long enough for me! I’m not sure what to suggest - maybe a juniors brand?

This is one search I have failed to find anything that fits me right especially being tall (6’1”) with a long torso. Crop tops are obviously too short, and even searching for shirts online that sit at the waistline has come up with nothing :(
I went to two stores and tried on some tops in a size smaller than what I usually am but it did very little for the bottom length and only shortened the sleeves. Other tops ended up being too short showing my belly which I didn’t want or just don’t look right on me. I cannot find that happy medium spot and I would like to not always have to tuck a shirt in to get the look I want.
Do you have any suggestions for shirts for tall women that sit at the waistline or slightly above? Photo below shows example of how I want the shirt to sit.
