A friend of my husband's has a French wife, and I hardly ever see here wearing ballet flats. On the contrary, she loves high spike heels. She's been here in the States for only 3 years, and shops like an American. I think it's one of those "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" things. I'm a v-neck devotee and have been finding this hard to find as well.  I have recently discovered Theory v-necks and love the quality of their merino wool. I just picked up one in Ruby (though it is more an oxblood colour.) it is a bit slouchy and has a nice drape. I would recommend tracking it down as they seem to be on sale now! The Woolover sweaters ended up being sized too big so I didn't bother ordering. I'm trying a couple of sweaters on deep discount from Eddie Bauer and Talbots. The Talbots one isn't a v-neck but has nice zippers at the hem that make it interesting. We'll see. I'll be watching the spring collections for v-necks. I say modified because it's not quite as sharp as a regular v neck but definitely not rounded like a crew. It's called rose - and  is not red, but more of a merlot colour.  Actually, it's the Marsala "new Pantone colour for 2015" - which turned out surprisingly more flattering and wearable that I would have thought. I'm afraid they are all sold out now. Your best bet is to wait for new Spring collections to emerge in the next month. I have a hunch that V-necks will make a debut in Spring.
