This is the reason Angie says to stock up in any season where your colors abound, you never know if they'll stick around :)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm happy to incorporate "new" colors and keep doing so to some extent each year, but I've kind of come around to wanting to have a base of best colors for me regardless of fashion.

I was all set on that and using creativity to combine here and there with any of the more "
trendy" colors that appeal to me. Then once I started getting more focused, I couldn't find my favorites! Patience, I guess.

I agree, the colors aren't my happy ones this season. Its a problem because I need a lot, and yet I don't want to be buying things in colors that don't make me happy. I find some things, but not a large amount of choice. I was so psyched about the radiant orchid. Maybe next year.

I do think either Pantone fancies itself way more important than it is, or the fashion cycle is always too far ahead for it to matter. Fashion shows are at least a season ahead, so that means spring and summer clothes were already manufactured before Pantone made its color of the year proclamation. They should start calling it the color of next year.

I think berry shades used to be popular a few seasons ago, and they stayed popular for a while. Because of that, I think they're probably not very fashionable right now. They're quite...2008, if that makes sense.

BTW, I love berry shades, too. But I kind of overdosed on buying them back then.

I have seen some hot pink and fuchsia, but not much raspberry or berries at all. There is a ton of blue, you're right - cobalt and its lighter cousins as well as all the ink and indigo and navy variations. Not as much green either but maybe that's more of an autumn/winter color. Not too many teals either, more aqua, but again I think that's somewhat a seasonal thing.

Unfrumped, I generally do not see warm berry shades in any season! Most of them seem to be cool toned, though in spring/summer the brighter shades do pop up. I haven't seen much pink that's not variations of blush this year, even though orchid was supposed to be "the" color. That said, the past few seasons the Pantone color feels like it's been a year off; when it was emerald there was lots of orange, then the following year loads of emerald. Perhaps next year we'll see more orchid?

I'm seeing a big selection of blue colors in the stores, and orangey pinks and peaches/warm blush colors, and not as many cool juicy berry tones--raspberry, deep pinks, or summery prints with same.

I found some good burgundy items this winter, and then I also I tiptoed into a few blues, blue-grays, some more teals, in winter and early spring, and kind of liked having a bit of changeup, but really the cool- red end of the spectrum is better for my coloring and I have been trying to streamline the color palette.

So I have tried to keep that in mind for my "list" and focus on the spring-summer versions of berry tones for new non-neutral items (tops, dresses or even jackets)--either new items or to replace cotton T's and such. But, I'm just not seeing as much of these colors as it seems was available in past seasons.

Not to mention, very little orchid compared to what was expected.

This could be good for my wallet, but I noticed I had to watch for a tendency to say, oh,this only comes in blue, but it's such a nice... (style, fabric).

Of course this is also great for the many fabbers who are on the lookout for ink blues and cobalts and denim and such.

What do you think--are the blues (and peaches) dominating this year, or am I just not looking in the right places?
