Thanks everyone for your insight! Hadn't thought about febreeze, but that's a gret idea. Intent sweat much so that will help me out. This isn't a beaching vacation so that might help me out too. Mostly just sightseeing in the Mediterranean.

When I travel, I do a lot of mix and match and wearing things multiple times. You can always bring febreze to help freshen it up.

As I've gotten older, I don't sweat nearly as much plus I'm always cold or cool. Also, with the lack of hormones, I think my BO is reduced and I don't need to wash my hair as often. Thus, I can probably wear clothes lightly longer than I could 20 or 30 years ago. If it is salt air or warm/hot, I prefer to wear only once -- which is why I am not super big on backpacking or camping.

Depends on the climate. My rule of thumb is that I don't like to wear a knit top more than twice before washing it. For a three week trip, I'd definitely be doing laundry twice (since I'm a light packer).

Hmm - it depends on the season/occasion.
For the kind of holiday you're talking about I would pack the following way:
Beach cover-ups: I don't mix these with my regular clothes, so they can be worn over and over. Even if you're taking a day trip from the cruise, take an extra beach cover-up with you, so you can wear it on the beach or on the way back. Breezy sun dresses are very good for this, because you can wear them both on the beach and from the beach. I would still pack more than 1 though in case they remain wet and cannot be dried in time for next day's excursion.
Tops: If you are wearing them during daytime, count on wearing them only once at most. That said, as Emily said, you can get more mileage out of them if you can wear them for a few hours at night the first day and during the day the second day. same goes for dresses that can be dressed up and down.
Also, can you bring a travel size fabric freshner with you? If you can air out your tops after each wear and spritz with Febreze, you can get more mileage.
As for dressing up for dinner, try to change your accessories. A LBD can be worn many many times, if you add the right accessories.

I can't wear knits more than once. Jeans I will wear two or three times. Jackets can go indefinitely depending on what's layered beneath. Woven tops can get atleast two wears. I don't like rewearing my pj's more than twice on vacation bc I shower in the morning, so I need to bring a few changes.

Hmm i guess i don't have a strict or fast rule. Did i sweat a lot in it? Dance my butt off the night before? It gets washed or not wore again. Otherwise i don't mind re-wearing.

I have got to change my shirt every day because I sweat, but I realize not everyone is the same. My mom can wear her tops three times and smell pristine.

It depends what I'm doing. At the beach I will wear items repeatedly because they are just sandy beach clothes anyway. I will easily go two or three times for jeans and sweaters or dresses too.

Great info, ladies! Thanks for your tips.

Good to know, Maryk about the washing opportunity aboard the ship.

Meredith, I'm like you, I usually just wash out undies and camis.

Emily, Your strategy was something I was planning. I top that I would wear for a few hours in the evening for dinner could be remixed for the daytime with a casual pant, skirt or Capri.

For a warm weather vacation, I plan to wear a top once during the day before washing. I try to plan so that at least a couple of my tops mix into an evening and a casual outfit; for example I will wear printed tank with a skirt and heels at dinner, then later in the week with khakis and flat sandals. Since I like to lay around on the beach and swim, tops layered over bathing suits are usually good for a couple of wears, too.

When I went to France I actually did NO wash other than handwashing undies and camis etc in the sink. Maybe I just don't sweat a lot? Of course France in June wasn't really hot anyway. I didn't need to wash the 3 pairs of trousers or my two sun dresses at all. The handful of tops I brought stayed clean because of the undershirt/camis. You can see I packed really light!

I will absolutely wear a top two or even three times if it's still fresh looking and smelling!

Note that mid-cruise they will probably have a special where they will do a whole bag of laundry for a set, low price. Keep an eye out for it in the daily announcements!

My vacations are always to tropical hot/humid climates, so I don't end up wearing anything more than once, though I do make an effort to wear one outfit all day long unless we have plans to go somewhere special at night. Last time we went to Nicaragua, I forced myself to pack less because I wanted to bring back some handbags and other souvenirs. I paid to have my clothes washed. Wasn't cheap, but I had room in my suitcase that way!

Since I just got back from vacation, I'll answer this. I seemed to do a lot of "costume changes" on our trip. I allowed two tops for each day, in case of perspiration. It became our *tradition* for hubs and I to walk over to Starbucks each morning while we let our teenagers sleep in. We sat in the A/C for several hours having coffee, visiting and using the WI-FI. Later we changed and went to the beach, and whatever we had worn to Starbucks was perfectly fine to wear again. So it was nice to have extras, but I didn't quite wear them all.

An article of clothing before washing?

We will be gone for 3 weeks and I'm just starting to pack and consider how much to bring. I hate to overpack and usually fit everything in a carry on, but not this time. This cruise will require every sort of wardrobe possibility...

Do you ever wear tops more than once?( if they aren't soiled of corse)Each night they take portraits which is always a fun reminder of the trip so I hate to repeat outfits for dinner.
