Oh, yes. So discouraging! More often, though, I find something I like and it's a one-season wonder--not made again the next year, by the time I realize I'd like to duplicate.

My Munro shoes! The sandals still fit me but the shoes stopped fitting years ago. The designers decided that the shoes looked better with narrower toe boxes.

Yes, more often than I’d care to admit. Gap does this all the time with their jeans, and North Face has done it with their hiking pants too.

Angie, I don’t think so. I bent and sat and stretched and the fit still seemed off somehow. My old ones never pull at the hip even after laundering and drying. The SA said that I’m not the first person to comment on the change, and that the jogger cut fits differently, so it sounds like Athleta people have noticed that the cut is different.

Janet! I have a theory about the Athleta bottoms. Have your old ones perhaps stretched out to how you prefer them to fit? This is why I might think that. I just bought the salutation joggers for yoga (same fabric as your Brooklyn joggers). I wore them this morning for the first time for an active yoga practice - meaning lots of stretching, moving and twisting.

And they stretched out a bit after practice!

I had the same issue as Angie with the North Face thermoball parka. I bought one at NAS several years ago. It might be the best thing I’ve ever bought at NAS. Then I bought another one in a different color, but the same size. It fits, but it’s not fabulous like the grey one.

The Columbia every day pants that I like vary a lot in fit. I think it might be where they are made - not just different factories, but different countries.

Oh kkards, not at all! Just commiserating! I default to blaming my body. Then I remember my existing clothes fit me and realize there are other factors.

I tried on a few dresses the other day — all disasters. But one was loose in a size 8. Another too tight in a size 10. So clearly I fit in anything from a 6 to a 12, which makes no sense. Ah, the crazy world of womens sizing. Meanwhile, my husband can go into a store, pick up some pants in a 36 waist and 90% of the time they fit and he doesn’t even need to take them into the fitting room. LOL

I've had similar issues to Angie's with North Face -- previous versions of their coats fit well but this year I found the fit (as well as the colour palette) was off for me.

kkards, at first I tried on the 8s in these pants and thought OOF I really need to lose the extra weight. Then I tried on the 10s and they still didn't fit right. And my old pants fit exactly as they have for a few years (for better or worse, my extra weight right now is sitting a little higher around my midsection), so it's not me, it's the pants!

jessikams, glad to know it wasn't just me. I consoled myself with the the realization that the only thing I would have paired that print with was a white shirt anyway.

The Lulu pants were such a favorite -- bummer that those changed too!

Cat2, my running shoes have been Brooks Ghost for years, but they keep "updating" them every year -- I think they're up to Ghost 13 or something now. I think they're cutting them a little wider, which I don't need. But I lace them up tighter. It would be more of an issue if I were still running long distances -- these days my running shoes last longer, but I'm wearing out my hiking shoes!

I used to sleep in Cuddleduds leggings, but the last pair I tried were about 4 inches too short in back. Switched to joggers instead, and haven't bothered to try them since.
The last shorts I bought for sleep seem shorter in the back too than the first pair I bought.

Janet, absolutely.

I have a fitted, stretchy Shenova dress with the Fibonacci sequence printed on it. When I bought it years ago, the size I have fit perfectly.

Last year, I bought another in the same size, different print. They have *so* changed the cut that this one didn't even come close to fitting.

And that is why it's off with the seamstress, getting the hip area taken in.

Agree with Carla in the OTFs. Was about to try the new version but I read Carried review and stayed away. I LOVE the OTFs - I have 5 pairs and Wear them all every summer. I guess I will wear them into the ground.

I now shop old Lulu on Poshmark instead of from their site - the new stuff just doesn't match up, quality wise, and isnt worth those prices.

This is so frustrating - especially in the covid age where bricks and mortar stores carry so little merchandise. Gap cotton boatneck tees used to be my perfect go to. Now, the most recent version is so thin and clingy that I can only wear them under sweaters. Plus, my favorite bra has the same look and name as my old ones, but fit so uncomfortably that I had to return.

I agree with the bra styles....

I always wonder if it's just me that likes a particular style of bra and they stop because I am unusual?

How about shoes? For years I wore Skechers, various non-sneaker tie oxfords, slip on casual tennis shoes, and even slippers. They were not stylish, but innocuous enough to wear with dress slacks to work. The biggest plus was they fit perfectly and had enough arch support for plantar fasciitis and resulting fussy feet.

Then a few years ago, they changed the “cut” to be wider and shorter in the forefoot, which skewed the proportions, and started using a memory foam insole, which to me was mush. My regular size was too short and too wide. The next size up felt even worse. The shoes which were shaped to my foot with the exact support I appreciated were no longer the same. Waahhh!

Yup! Lululemon discontinued the On The Fly pant and ‘replaced’ it with something called Keep Moving. Nope. Just, nope. I recently snagged a pair of capri length OTF, though I really wanted to replace my 7/8 length ankle pants. Back in the day I wore their In The Groove bun huggers for running and flared yoga pants for warm-up. When I wanted more, Lulu had discontinued the ITG line and were experiencing some really bad production quality issues with super sheer fabrics. I wore my originals for 20 years! Then I went elsewhere for a long time, until lured back by OTF. Now I’m disenfranchised once again.

DH and I have been supremely happy with our Tilley hats, so decided to get duplicates of the style we like in alternate colours. The first hats were made in Canada, but when we shopped for new ones, they had ‘made in China’ labels and weren’t the same! I managed to snag exactly what a wanted in a small local shop (possibly old stock - made in Canada) but DH hasn’t had any luck.

…and don’t get me started on having favourite bra styles discontinued!

@ racheylou - I remember those Express Editor pants! Best work trousers ever and they came in tall!! They closed their Canadian stores in 2017 as part of ‘restructuring’.

Yes! This happens to me too often. It takes me forever to find jeans that fit me. Everlane's Cheeky Straight Jean fit me perfectly. I ordered another wash this winter, and they had changed the denim and the style. I was not happy.

I wonder why - I wonder if the new fit works for more people or whether it's just been overlooked or if this is a cost cutting measure?

I always wonder why with a popular product that sells well you would make a change - sure lengths change, colours change etc.. but the basic fit should stay the same.

Wow, I see there is much shared frustration!

Cat2, the Madewell v-neck tees were a go-to for several years for me — and then I ordered a new white one, which was significantly thinner and more see-through than my old one. Good thing it was on deep sale — it was immediately relegated to sleepwear.

I guess now I got lucky...this year's Cosmic pant is the same as last year's. That is my favorite cut they've ever had. What I've noticed is that the Brooklyn jogger and the Brooklyn ankle pant are a bit different...it's subtle, but the fit is not the same. Why call them both Brooklyn then? Just because of the stripe?

Oh, Janet. So frustrating and annoying :(

TNF Thermaball has changed their fit. It used to fit me well. I have a really old red one that I wanted to duplicate. Tried a cream last year - disaster. Fit very different. Sticking with my old red one.
