I strongly recommend waiting for the sales!

I've learned the hard way that very often, when I've purchased something full price because it's so wonderful and I cannot risk letting it get away - even though I won't wear it for a couple of months - it *goes on sale* before I've worn it! Doh! Money down the drain.

Also, even if a piece you love is no longer available for one reason or another, chances are there will be a new one just as nice - if not nicer.

Especially since you won't need the clothes until June - those Memorial Day sales will offer many options at good prices.

Just my view, of course.

Specifically, for dog shows! I show mainly in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID possibly MT). This will be for summer, which means mainly outdoors.

I tend to run hot and can sweat such that I don't wear silk and if I'm wearing a blazer it goes on last minute. I suppose "light weight" is relative. Is 'summer weight' a better description? It can get pretty toasty standing around in the ring at some shows. And waiting. Shade is often at a premium during those couple of months when we actually have sun.

Since you live in Seattle, I caution you to purchase anything too lightweight, unless the attention is to wear these clothes in a hot climate.

So I guess my question is, what are the new clothes for?

I never buy things I won't wear within the next three weeks unless it is something I love. If it still has tags on it after 3 wks, it gets returned

This is a question for you seasoned shoppers.

I have a small budget, but starting in June I'll have need for a few new smart casual/slightly dressy outfits. I'm seeing a lot of things I like now but I'm wondering...

Should I wait until the time is closer to make sure I'm still in love with the pieces or snap them up now? Do I wait to see if anything better will come along? When am I likely to find the best variety for the season?

Namely, I'm looking for a couple of cute lightweight skirts and maybe a dress or two, possibly a light jacket. Modcloth has a lot of stuff that really appeals to me at the moment, but then they often do. There are also a couple of tops at Anthropologie that I like. And some dark wash Gap Long and Leans.

I don't wait to wait too long and have fewer options but at the same time I'm reluctant to purchase things that I won't wear NOW.
