And I hate surprises like finding out an outfit doesn't look the way I'd imagined. </p> <p>I'm a planner by nature, and I plan just about everything including what I wear. Even when I dress emotionally, I still plan. There have been weeks when I was in the mood for certain colors or silhouettes and wore them the whole week. I usually have an idea of what I want to wear for the coming week and I wash and press whatever might be needed. I do the same thing for my daughter's clothes and it saves so much time when getting ready in the mornings. Tomorrow is jean's day at work and I've been waiting for over a week to debut my new fur vest. And tried. But it just doesn't work with me. At night, when I finally have a minute to myself before going to bed, I have no inspiration whatsoever to start pulling out clothes and decide on outfits. </p> <p>So my solution: I became a planned-emotional dresser. Every two-three days, I select in advance a couple of tops, bottoms, dresses, and jewelry that go together. I place them at the front of my wardrobe. I do this anytime during the day, here and there, add, retrieve something. </p> <p>Then I choose between these and only these in the morning. I found this method satisfied my desire to dress as I felt in the morning, while taking away the guilt of not wearing some items (because a small selection has been made), or the guilt that I would be wearing the same things (because again, the selection is small)... the result is more freedom, believe it or not, and drastic decrease in fussy mornings. And who cares if I end up wearing almost identical outfits two days in a row? Nobody really notices, or if they do, they don't really care. If I'm planning in advance, though, I try to come up with options for different weather conditions because nothing is worse than getting all set with an idea only to realize that it won't work with the coat you'll need to wear or your footwear. </p> <p>When you don't have many clothes in the closet it is pretty easy to pull outfits together on the spot.
