I can't speak to your leggings but I have a lulu jacket from 4 years ago that is washed about once a week and, yes, dried on low. It is thick! It takes three days to dry if I hang it up and I work out everyday. It still looks good to my eye and yesterday a lady complimented it after a ski day. The lulu staff told me not to wash or dry it with cotton--just with similar finish exercise clothes, to keep it looking fresh. So maybe that helped. My point--my experience with a single item has been fabulous. And I wash and dry all my workout clothes (cold wash, low heat dry). So, my $0.02!

I find it varies, I had some black Nike leggings that lasted at least five years until I spilt paint on them and put a hole in them. My current Nike pair are great at two years, my UnderArmour still great at two and five years although the five years pair are getting a little saggy and are probably soon to be relegated....

I line dry or rack dry active wear, it dries so quickly.

Ooh, I just pitched an old black tank top that I wore a ton because it got that sort of snaggy, sticky feeling. I just couldn't stand it anymore, even though the color hadn't faded. It was from Anthro maybe 5-6 years ago. It also made me realize that my other black tank top is looking faded. I wear these a lot under low-cut shirts, etc. Looking for a replacement now.

If I put these things in the dryer, I'm careful to take them out when they're halfway done and let them air dry most of the way.

Ah, the dryer! I guess I should be glad that I've gotten this long of wear out of them-- I teach yoga so I'm pretty hard on my leggings, though I agree with annagybe that I think there has been a decline in the quality of the Lulus

I rarely put athletic wear in the dryer. I air dry. But now that I read this post, I will be extremely vigilant to make sure I never, ever do use the dryer (even accidentally).

Agreeing with others. Sad to say that the dryer is most likely the culprit. I've had my Lulu leggings for about 6 years and the are not exhibiting this type of wear. I can count on one hand the times they have gone through the dryer.

Oh....don't put them in the dryer. Throw them on a rack to dry.

I only wear mine to the gym. I replace them when they start looking worn....two years max, I think. They start to get sort of fuzzy. I've never experienced stickiness.....like Joy mentioned you probably ruined them with the dryer.

I recently switched from Luon to Luxtreme. I think the Luxtreme is wearing better....I like the smoothness.

The stickiness is probably ruined elastic . Do not use the dryer on anything with any stretch. The elastic will also give out over time and feel sticky. I try to buy woven rather than knit leggings and think that they look better for a longer time.

Ditto everything Anna says. Also, I find Supplex nylon gear leggings last longer than polyester.

The minute I see pills or any sign of wear - they are relegated to yard work clothes. I don't get that kind of wear out of mine - I expect them to look good enough for public wear for at most a year....not usually that long. I'm hard on them though....

Lulu quality has gone down from all reports I've heard.
Also hate to say it, but you definitely shortened their life by drying them. Elastic, Lycra etc is killed by dryers.

I've owned Lululemon leggings for at several years now, and they are supposedly designed to last five years. Some of my older bootcut leggings are fine, but a few of my skinny leggings (maybe 2-3 years old) have a sort of stickiness/pilling to them that sometimes is like a static/velcro feel when I put them on, though when I wear them they feel ok; I just notice I'm hesitant to put them on!
I'm reluctant in some ways to part with them as they have nice pockets and have made fantastic travel apparel and not many legging/yoga pants have good pockets
Are the "done" and time to move on? Lulu says to wash them and hang dry, though I've always washed and put them in the dryer without any problems.
I'd appreciate any advice you have as well as suggestions for alternate brands.
