One thing I find challenging with Nordies is that it's all organized by departments, and when you try to just find "a denim skirt", you have to hit several sections of the store (and the sales ladies from one dept. don't always know what other depts. carry.)</p> <p>Velma and Barbara, I am indeed a heavy thrifter. I've found denim skirts at consignment stores, though again just not a perfect one in the past (and have sometimes made compromises that I later regretted, taking home a skirt that fit "pretty well" because it was such a bargain.) Thrift shops in this part of the world tend to have a great selection of denim skirts, for some reason. I just bought a Gap dark-wash denim pencil skirt that fits me like a glove--and once I got it home, I realized it had never even been washed. $4! I have also thrifted like-new A-line and mini jean skirts--both in frequent rotation, especially during the summer. I'm flexible in terms of the wash; not too light, though, since I don't want it to be super casual. Looking for a versatile skirt that I can dress up or down, nothing so trendy that it would look dated a year later but I'd prefer it if it had some interesting styling or details (though I'll also consider a very basic pencil or A-line one if it fits well.) My questions:</p> <p>When is the best time to shop for denim skirts? I gather it might be a tad early right now (e.g. I asked at the Gap a couple weeks ago and they didn't even know when they'd get some in.) But I also don't want to miss the best selection. So when do they tend to hit the stores?</p> <p>And do you have tips for where to shop? Stores I've shopped at (for denim skirts) in the past include Gap, Express, Levis, J Crew. Where else should I look? </p>
