We used to go out when the kids were younger and didn't know it was NYE. Nana would come to stay with them and we would go out to a big gala at a hotel.</p> <p>But the kids are older now and know what NYE is. They want to celebrate. So we will have a dinner made entirely of appetizers and play silly board games. Then when it gets late we will find Cirque du Soleil on the telly and watch until midnight. Then we will all hug and kiss and say goodnight - "See you next year!" (despite it being midnight and already being 2015). Though I long to go out and dress up, there is such a short window in which the kids will think it is cool to hang out with us for NYE, so we'll take it.
