I have this skirt from PC and I love it. My first ever PC purchase. Worth the price for sure, but it wasn’t super expensive. I’ve worn it probably 10 times already this summer alone — I bought it in Santa Fe this spring. Fabric is substantial yet breathable. PC fabrications tend to be substantial as far as I’ve seen, but I’ve not seen those pants. They look awesome. I think wool blends can be very nice — the addition of manmade fibers can add some drape and flow. But I think it’s really the kind of thing that you’d have to see in person to really evaluate. I tried on a very cute pair of moto pants at PC that were close to working but the fit was not quite right for me.

Based on the 2 dresses I have from PC, I'd absolutely recommend them. My budget is very low, but I've learned that sometimes spending more initially ends up saving in the end. I take better care of the really nice things, because I want them to last!

A bit off topic ( sorry Em) but yes, some of them could no way pay the prices we are asked to pay. Many could. I work in a mixed area. I am wealthier than many but not as wealthy as a number of them ( I think). I try not to flaunt as well as not to hide. We all make choices. It’s very very personal what people spend money on!

Jenni, PC does bill itself as a "fair trade" company, so yes to the thought of "other peoples blood, sweat and tears". But your comment about your patients reminds me of how angry my mom was when a new opthalmologist came to town, set up shop, and within a couple years had a house built that my mom said was "a slap in the face to the people of" the Appalachian area I grew up in--coal mining, a steel mill & a boilermaker, all pretty much shut down or on the way down in the early 80s, when this occurred.

Yeah I will hardly ever pay those sort of prices. Maybe close to $200 for pants a couple of times. Black evening pants with satin front were $207 ( made in NZ) and the olive snakeskin ( made in Australia) that I thought about for 10 months were $179- then the duplicate was only $60, yaaay. I have to say the blended fabrics can seem quite luxurious, Em? Better than straight polyester and looking like the fabric has taken quite some skill to make and plan? Those kind of skills do make me feel better about paying more, than some of the clothes in our nice boutiques here which are straight polyester when all is said and done, with not very exciting cuts. I resent those so I just don’t do it. I suppose I must have some of my struggling patients in the back of my mind somehow?- there is some psychological block about paying more than I feel the garment is worth. It feels like a waste of my blood, sweat and tears. I suppose I need to think about other people’s blood, sweat and tears that got it to that store for me to consider? IDK.

Yes, ST shops the Peruvian Connection, is waiting for two more dresses now. Someone else has a dress just like one of hers. Bijou?

I haven’t clicked the links, but I like pretty much everything from there, and the quality is supposedly great. I say “supposedly” because if I’m going to pay those kind of prices, I will get going on my desire to shop local makers, now that I live someplace that has so many good ones. But I *think* PC is a good company—might want to check.

I think that one of YLF has an amazing skirt from Peruvian Connection (just can’t quite recall who).

They’ve a fairly good reputation I think and I’ve looked at their clothes but they are quite long for me so I’ve not bought anything (yet!).

In NZ this happens to us the whole time. It’s polyester, you made it in China then brought it in, and you want hundreds for it? I’m not joking. It’s no wonder people go to Zara or H&M.
I am trying to buy less polyester, and of course overall to buy fewer clothes. Sometimes these fabric blends can be very nice though, so I lean towards that if you can wear it 30 times or more and buy less other stuff, that is more acceptable. Happy for my thoughts to be shot down. Of course I expect Shevia to suggest thrifting instead

Peruvian Connection has a kind of relaxed construction... and I have to admit that I balk at that at those prices.

As Shevia says, look at the seams. Does the plaid match up to your liking?
Is ode and polyester is not a promising combination. Are there ratings? If so, read what others say.

I like natural materials but boy oh boy they must be on the endangered species list. And I can't see paying $$$ for...polyester!

But it seems I need to find a balance between cost and sort-of-natural materials. What do you think of the quality of these items? What should I look for while inspecting them to help me make a determination?
