I have heard great things about cedar. I store mine in a cedar chest from my grandmother and I have not had an issue with them.

Wash them before you put them away for the summer. That's the biggest thing. Even things like dead skin and sweat will attract them. I store mine on open shelves in my closet with some cedar and lavendar and don't have moth problems.

ETA: Just read that you will be wearing the sweaters all summer... I guess in that case your best bet would just be to wash often.

I would first recommend putting the damaged items in the freezer for a week to kill the eggs/animals. Vacuum drawers and corners throrughly. Then use lavendar or cedar in your closet as a repellant. I end up washing my woolens (i do hand wash cycle even on merino and cashmere and set flat to dry) probably a bit too often too as any speck of food etc. will attract the buggers.

I discovered tiny holes in at least 1 merino wool sweater and 1 cashmere sweater. Bummed.

Just wondering - what's your answer to moths? How do you store your sweaters?

I'm in the SF Bay Area plus my office can be ARCTIC, so I'll be wearing my sweaters all summer long. Therefore, I need a better solution for my closet. (I can't just pack up my sweaters into bins and store them away.)

Anyone have any great tips? TIA!
